Don't Panic (The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy)
''The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'' is a comic science fiction series created by Douglas Adams that has become popular among fans of the genre and members of the scientific community. Phrases from it are widely recognised and often used in reference to, but outside the context of, the source material. Many writers on popular science, such as Fred Alan Wolf, Paul Davies, and Michio Kaku, have used quotations in their books to illustrate facts about cosmology or philosophy. The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything is 42 In the radio series and the first novel, a group of hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings demand to learn the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything from the supercomputer Deep Thought, specially built for this purpose. It takes Deep Thought million years to compute and check the answer, which turns out to be 42. Deep Thought points out that the answer seems meaningless because the beings ...

The Official Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy Companion
''The'' is a grammatical article in English, denoting nouns that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archaic pronoun ''thee' ...

Lance-Corporal Jack Jones
Lance Corporal Jack Jones is a fictional Home Guard platoon lance corporal and veteran of the British Empire, first portrayed by Clive Dunn in the BBC television sitcom ''Dad's Army''. His catchphrases are "Don't panic!", "Permission to speak, sir?" and "They don't like it up 'em!". Jones also often recounts, at length, his past military experiences, particularly those in Sudan and India and gives a glimpse to the military traditions and events in the concluding years of the 19th century. Fictional biography The backstory invented for Jones suggests that he was born in 1870 in Walmington-on-Sea, the son of George Jones, who by the start of World War II is the 88-year-old caretaker of the Peabody Museum of Historical Army Weapons. In " The Showing Up of Corporal Jones", when Major Regan asks him his age, Jones replies sixty, but tells Captain Mainwaring later in the same episode his actual age, which is seventy. Jack Jones joined the army as a drummer boy in 1884; thereafter, he ...

Don't Panic TV was an Italian-operated, British-owned pornographic channel that existed between 2002 and 2004. The channel broadcast pornographic movies, mostly of European production, over satellite. It was also broadcast over Africa, especially South Africa, where the channel was at the center of a large-scale controversy. History Don't Panic was set up by a British company (Media Satellite) and was already available in a handful of European countries. The channel was founded in July 2002 and started broadcasting on November 1, 2002. The channel was multilingual, having several language tracks available. Due to a loophole, the channel was made available in South Africa from January 2003 (as the first such channel available in the country) by means of a subscription smartcard costing R2000 (US$250 at the time of its launch). Shortly after broadcasts to South Africa began, the channel was already into hot water over the nature of its content - pornographic movies that are normally ...

Don't Panic (Coldplay Song)
"Don't Panic" is a song by the British rock band Coldplay. Originally titled "Panic", the earliest known version of the song existed in 1998, performed live during the band's first gig in the same year. It had a different melody, and was included in the band's second EP, '' The Blue Room''. The track was reproduced by Coldplay and British producer Ken Nelson for the band's debut album, '' Parachutes''. Following their successful releases in 2000, Coldplay and their record label Parlophone thought there was enough exposure of the album in the United Kingdom. Thus, the decision of releasing a fourth single would be for regions that had not been overdosed by the hit singles "Yellow" and " Trouble". They settled on "Don't Panic", which at the time was an audience favourite. It was released in some European regions, and the United Kingdom only received a promo edition. The critical reception of the song was generally positive. Origins and production "Don't Panic" came into ex ...
