Dominique (1979 Film)
''Dominique'', also released as ''Dominique Is Dead'', is a 1979 British psychological horror film directed by Michael Anderson, and featuring Cliff Robertson, Jean Simmons, Simon Ward, Jenny Agutter, Judy Geeson, and Ron Moody. The film concerns a wealthy American businessman (Robertson) who is seemingly haunted by the ghost of his wife (Simmons), whom he apparently caused to commit suicide at their British estate. Author Ronald Chetwynd-Hayes wrote a novelization of the film, which is based on the 1948 short story "What Beckoning Ghost", written by American author Harold Lawlor. This is the final movie of actors Jack Warner and Leslie Dwyer. Michael Joseph Anderson Sr (30 January 1920 – 25 April 2018) was an English film and television director. His career spanned nearly 50 years across three countries, working at various times in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada. His most critically and commercially successful works include the World War II film '' The Dam Busters'' (1955), the dystopian sci-fi film '' Logan's Run'' (1976), and the comedy adventure epic '' Around the World in 80 Days'' (1956), which won the 1957 Academy Award for Best Picture. Leslie Gilbert Dwyer (28 August 1906 – 26 December 1986) was an English film and television actor. Career He was born in Catford, the son of the popular music hall comedian Johnny Dwyer, and acted from the age of ten and appeared in his first film in 1921. Vinegar Syndrome is an American home video distribution company which specializes in "protecting and preserving Film genre, genre films". The company was founded in 2012 in Bridgeport, Connecticut by Joe Rubin and Ryan Emerson, who created it to restore and distribute old X-rated films that were lost or otherwise unavailable. Their catalog has since expanded to include other types of Cult film, cult and exploitation films, including horror films and action films. Vinegar Syndrome has been compared to the Criterion Collection for its importance to "physical media and film preservation," as well as similarly garnering praise for high-quality home video offerings. The newspaper is published every day except for Sundays. Shepperton Studios is a film studio located in Shepperton, Surrey, England, with a history dating back to 1931. It is now part of Pinewood Group, the Pinewood Studios Group. Valerie Jeanne Wilkinson (9 May 1931 – 11 October 2005) was an English actress known as Jan Holden, using her mother's maiden name as a stage name. In theatre she was known for her performances in light comedy and appeared in several television series during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Early life Born in Southport, Lancashire, Jeanne Wilkinson, as she then was, spent her early childhood in India, where her father was a senior manager at the Swadeshi Cotton Mills in Kanpur.
