Wilhelm August Wenz
Wilhelm August Wenz (21 October 1886 – 12 September 1945) was a German malacologist, born in Frankfurt am Main. He is the author of the 7-part Gastropoda section of ''Handbuch der Paläozoologie'' (1938-1944), a very important review that described all known fossil genera. Peter Friedrich Röding
Peter Friedrich Röding (17 June 1767 – 8 June 1846) was a German malacologist who lived in Hamburg. Very little is known about this naturalist. Many of Röding's descriptions (often simply a German rendition of the Latin binomial name) are of species which were first named by earlier authors such as Johann Hieronymus Chemnitz, Friedrich Wilhelm Martini and Martin Lister. Röding's references to pre-existing descriptions and figures make these names also valid, since they are unequivocally recognizable, and were (after Röding) subsequently adopted by many later authors. William Wood (zoologist)
William Wood FRS FLS (1774–1857), was an English surgeon, zoologist and entomologist. He was born in Kendal, Westmorland and trained in surgery at St Bartholomew's Hospital. He practised for several years as a surgeon at Wingham, near Canterbury and in London, but left the medical profession to become a natural history bookseller, publisher and naturalist. He was the author of several natural history books, especially on the Mollusca.
