Dobama's Night Kitchen
Dobama Theatre had been presenting short plays following 8 pm "mainstage" productions for several seasons before artistic director Joyce Casey asked David Hansen to act as the producer of a series of late-night events geared specifically to audiences in their late-teens and twenties. Called ''Dobama’s Night Kitchen'', the title inspired by the 1970 Maurice Sendak children’s book, began in Fall, 1995. David Hansen’s three-year tenure as artistic director of the Night Kitchen was dedicated to three models of production; the long-form improv, the collaboratively written script based around a single theme, and the new play written by a local (Cleveland-based) playwright. Dobama's Night Kitchen was the first Cleveland area theater to present long-form improv. These included the MTV inspired ''The Realistic World'' and the X-Files inspired ''One Step Beyond''. In 1997 Hansen produced his own play, ''The Vampyres''. Dobama's Night Kitchen also produced the first solo performanc ...

New York International Fringe Festival
The New York International Fringe Festival, or FringeNYC, was a fringe theater festival and one of the largest multi-arts events in North America. It took place over the course of a few weeks in October, spread on more than 20 stages across several neighborhoods in downtown Manhattan, notably the Lower East Side, the East Village, and Greenwich Village. Most of the venues were centered on the FringeHUB. Yearly attendance topped 75,000 people. Festival Unlike most Fringe festivals, FringeNYC uses a jury-based selection process. Around 200 shows, out of a much larger pool of applicants, are selected for inclusion each year. However, from 2018 the Festival reduced the number of shows. The festival was founded in 1997 by Aaron Beall, John Clancy, Jonathan Harris (also known as Ezra Buzzington), and (current Artistic Director) Elena K. Holy, and is produced by The Present Company. Notable shows that premiered at FringeNYC include ''Urinetown'', '' Dog Sees God'', the musical a ...

Soap Scum
Soap scum or lime soap is the white solid composed of calcium stearate, magnesium stearate, and similar alkaline earth metal derivatives of fatty acids. These materials result from the addition of soap and other anionic surfactants to hard water. Hard water contains calcium and magnesium ions, which react with the surfactant anion to give these metallic or lime soaps.{{Ullmann, author=Angelo Nora, Alfred Szczepanek, Gunther Koenen, title=Metallic Soaps, year=2005, doi=10.1002/14356007.a16_361 :2 C17H35COO−Na+ + Ca2+ → (C17H35COO)2Ca + 2 Na+ In this reaction, the sodium cation in soap is replaced by calcium to form calcium stearate. Lime soaps build deposits on fibres, washing machines, and sinks. Synthetic surfactants are less susceptible to the effects of hard water. Most detergents contain builders that prevent the formation of lime soaps. See also * Water softening * Tadelakt, a form of lime-soap-based waterproof plaster * Qadad ''Qadad'' ( ''qaḍāḍ'') o ...

Shopping And Fucking
''Shopping and Fucking'' (sometimes billed as ''Shopping and F**king'') is a 1996 play by English playwright Mark Ravenhill. It was Ravenhill's first full-length play. It received its first public reading at the Finborough Theatre, London, in 1995. It was performed in 1996 at the Royal Court Upstairs (located temporarily at the Ambassadors Theatre in London's West End), before embarking on a national and international tour, co-produced by Out of Joint and the Royal Court Theatre. When first produced, ''Shopping and Fucking'' received mixed reviews. Some were shocked by the play's sexually violent content, which includes the pseudo-rape of an underage male by other males. Other critics were drawn to the play's black humour, and its mixture of Sadean and Marxist philosophies. Along with Sarah Kane's ''Blasted'', it was a prime exemplar of British in-yer-face theatre of the 1990s. Central themes The sexual violence of ''Shopping and Fucking'' explores what is possible if cons ...
