The Division of Herbert is an Divisions of the Australian House of Representatives, Australian electoral division in the states and territories of Australia, state of Queensland. Eligible voters within the Division elect a single representative, known as the member for Herbert, to the Australian House of Representatives. It covers the city of Townsville. The current MP is Phillip Thompson of the Liberal Party of Australia, Liberal Party. Ewen Thomas Jones (7 March 1960 – 13 July 2023) was an Australian politician representing the division of Division of Herbert, Herbert for the Liberal National Party of Queensland, Liberal National Party from the 2010 Australian federal election, 2010 federal election until the 2016 Australian federal election, 2016 federal election. Jones won the division of Herbert in 2010, achieving a 2.05% swing against the Labor candidate, former mayor of Townsville, Tony Mooney. Jones was a longtime resident of Townsville, Queensland. Peter Lindsay
Peter John Lindsay (born 4 May 1944) is an Australian former politician who served as a Liberal Party of Australia member of the Australian House of Representatives from March 1996 to July 2010, representing the Division of Herbert, Queensland. In January 2007 he was appointed to the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Defence in the Howard government. He was born in Brisbane, Queensland, and was a television station production manager and General Manager of Townsville Television from 1972 to 1996 before entering politics.
