At the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, five diving (sport), diving events were contested. The competitions were held from Monday, 14 July 1924 to Sunday, 20 July 1924. Medal summary The events are labelled as 3 metre springboard, 10 metre platform and plain high diving by the International Olympic Committee, and appeared on the 1924 Official Report as ''plongeons du tremplin'', ''plongeons de haut vol variés'' (men) or ''plongeons de haut vol ordinaires'' (women) and ''plongeons de haut vol ordinaires'' (men), respectively. Piscine Des Tourelles
The Piscine des Tourelles, sometimes listed as Le stade nautique des Tourelles, is an Aquatic sports, aquatics venue that was used to host the Diving at the 1924 Summer Olympics, diving, Swimming at the 1924 Summer Olympics, swimming, Water polo at the 1924 Summer Olympics, water polo, and the swimming portion of the Modern pentathlon at the 1924 Summer Olympics, modern pentathlon events for the 1924 Summer Olympics. Located in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, it hosted eleven swimming, diving, and one water polo during those games. Attendance at the games totaled 51,000 for all eight event days. In 1989, it underwent extensive renovation, and reopened as the Piscine Georges Vallerey Jr., Georges Vallerey, although it is still widely known by its old name. The renovated pool is 50 meters in length but can be divided into two unequal parts by an underwater partition. Aileen Riggin
Aileen Muriel Riggin (May 2, 1906 – October 17, 2002), also known by her married name Aileen Soule (also Aileen Riggin Soule), was an American competition swimmer and diver. She was Olympic champion in springboard diving in 1920 and U.S. national springboard diving champion from 1923 to 1925. After retiring from competitions, she enjoyed a long and varied career in acting, coaching, writing and journalism. She was a swimming celebrity in Hawaii and the United States and an active ambassador of women's swimming well into old age. Early life Born in Newport, Rhode Island, Riggin learned to swim at the age of six, in Manila Bay in the Philippines where her father, a U.S. Navy paymaster, was stationed. Elizabeth Anna Becker-Pinkston (, later ''Campbell''; March 6, 1903 – April 6, 1989) was an American diver who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics and in the 1928 Summer Olympics. Richmond Cavill "Dick" Eve (19 March 1901 – 13 March 1970) was an Australian diver who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics. He won the gold medal in the plain high diving and finished fifth in the 3 metre springboard event. He was the first Australian Olympic diver to win a gold medal. Swimming career Following the 1924 Olympics, Eve was barred from membership of Manly Amateur Swimming Club as he was considered a professional since he managed manly baths and lived on site. His "professional status" meant he was also ineligible for selection for the 1928 Summer Olympics.
