Art Ditmar
Arthur John Ditmar (April 3, 1929 – June 11, 2021) was an American starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played with the Oakland Athletics, Philadelphia / Kansas City Athletics (1954–56, 1961–62) and the New York Yankees (1957–61). Ditmar batted and threw right-handed and was listed at tall and . Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, Ditmar grew up in the Berkshire County, Massachusetts, Berkshire County city of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Pittsfield, where he graduated from Pittsfield High School (Massachusetts), high school. A finesse control pitcher, Ditmar divided his career between the Athletics and Yankees. Ditmar won 47 games for the Yankees in a span of five years, with a career-high 15 in 1960, despite not getting to pitch on a regular basis in a rotation which included Whitey Ford, Bobby Shantz, Don Larsen and Bob Turley. Karl Von Ditmar
Karl Bernhard Woldemar Ferdinand von Ditmar (sometimes ''Carl von Ditmar'') ( in Vändra – in Tartu) was a Baltic German geologist and explorer, who travelled in and contributed to the scientific understanding of Kamchatka. Life and work Karl von Ditmar was born in Vändra, present-day Estonia as the son of jurist Woldemar Friedrich Carl Ditmar and Charlotte Ditmar, ''née'' Stackelberg. He studied at the University of Tartu in 1841–1847, where he befriended Leopold von Schrenck and Karl Maximovich, as well as Karl Ernst von Baer. Ditmar began studying agricultural science but after some time changed to mineralogy and geology under Otto Wilhelm Hermann von Abich and Hermann Martin Asmuss. After having graduated university with a master's degree, Ditmar in 1846–1848 travelled Europe and among other things attended lectures at the Freiberg Mining Academy in present-day Germany. Nikolay Fyodorovitch Von Ditmar
Nikolai Fyodorovitch von Ditmar (b. Moscow, May 10, 1865; died Kharkov, July 18, 1919) was an industrialist, entrepreneur, socialite, and politician from the Russian Empire. Biography Born into the hereditary nobility of the Russian Empire, von Ditmar was of Baltic German origin. He graduated from St. Petersburg's Mining Institute in 1889 and studied chemistry with the scientist Dmitri Mendeleev. After an early engineering career in manufacturing and railroad construction, von Ditmar settled in Kharkov where he founded a factory that produced mining engineering equipment. It enjoyed rapid success and in 1902 he was elected a member of the city duma. From 1906 to 1917 von Ditmar served as chairman of the Council of Mining Industrialists of Southern Russia. In 1912 he was chosen to sit in the State Council of the Russian Empire, the upper house of the country's quasi-parliament. Ditmar Jakobs
Ditmar Jakobs (born 28 August 1953) is a German former footballer who played as a defender. He played as a centre-back, a classical libero in the mold of Franz Beckenbauer or Willi Schulz. Jakobs played 493 games from 1971 to 1990 for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, Tennis Borussia Berlin, MSV Duisburg, and Hamburger SV. With Hamburger SV, he won the 1987 DFB-Pokal. In 1982 and 1983, he became German champion and in 1983, he won the European Cup. Jakobs was a member of the Germany national team that was runner-up in the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. From 1980 to 1986, he collected 20 caps for the team. Accident Jakobs' career ended prematurely on 20 September 1989 in a game between Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen. When an attacker lobbed the Hamburger SV goalie, Jakobs lunged feet-first into his goal and scraped the ball off the line.
