Districts Of Ghana
The Districts of Ghana are second-level administrative subdivisions of Ghana, below the level of Regions of Ghana, region. There are currently 261 local metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (or MMDA's). History The districts of Ghana were re-organized in 1988/1989 in an attempt to decentralize the government and to assist in development. The reform of the late 1980s subdivided the regions of Ghana into 110 districts, where local district assemblies should deal with the local administration. By 2006, an additional 28 districts were created by splitting some of the original 110, bringing their number up to 138. In February 2008, there were more districts created and some were upgraded to municipal status. This brought the final number to 170 districts in Ghana. Since then, a further 46 districts have been added since 28 June 2012 bringing the total to 216 districts. Tano South Municipal District
Tano South Municipal District is one of the six districts in Ahafo Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Tano District in 1988, until the western part of the district was split off to create Tano North District in December 2004; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Tano South District. It was later elevated to municipal district assembly status in April 2018 to become Tano South Municipal District. Adansi South District
Adansi South District is one of the forty-three districts in Ashanti Region, Ghana. Originally it was created from parts of two former districts on 17 February 2004: Adansi West District and Adansi East District; thus the remaining parts had been absorbed into parts of Obuasi Municipal District and Adansi North District respectively. On 15 March 2018, the western part of the district was split off to create Akrofuom District. The district assembly is the southernmost part of Ashanti Region and has New Edubiase as its capital town. Geography Adansi South District lies entirely in a forest. Adansi Asokwa
Adansi Asokwa is the capital of the Adansi Asokwa District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The district itself was created out of the Adansi North District by Legislative Instrument in 2018. It is located in the southern half of the region on the N8 road (Ghana), N8 highway running from Kumasi, capital of the region to Yamoransa near Cape Coast, capital of the Central Region (Ghana), Central Region. It is also the main town in the Asokwa Area Council, one of four in the district. Asokwa is at an elevation of 278m. Lying to the north of Asokwa are Fomena, capital of the Adansi North district, Brofoyedru and Dompase.
