Disobedience (2017 Film)
''Disobedience'' is a 2017 romantic drama film directed by Sebastián Lelio and written by Lelio and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Naomi Alderman. The film stars Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams, and Alessandro Nivola. Set in North London, it tells the story of a woman who returns to the strict Orthodox Jewish community for her father's funeral after living in New York for many years, having been estranged from her father and ostracised by the community for a reason that becomes clearer as the story unfolds. Rebecca Lenkiewicz
Rebecca Lenkiewicz (born 1968) is a British playwright, screenwriter, film director, and former actress. She is best known as the author of '' Her Naked Skin'' (2008), which was the first original play written by a living female playwright to be performed on the Olivier stage of the Royal National Theatre. Several of Lenkiewicz's plays have been published individually, and in 2013, Faber & Faber published a collection of her works. Early life and education Lenkiewicz was born in Plymouth, Devon, to Celia Mills and Peter Quint, a playwright. Her stepfather is the artist Robert Lenkiewicz. Sebastián Lelio Watt (born 8 March 1974) is a Chilean director, screenwriter, editor and producer. 2017 Toronto International Film Festival
The 42nd annual Toronto International Film Festival was held from September 7 to 17, 2017. There were fourteen programs, with the Vanguard and City to City programs both being retired from previous years, with the total number of films down by 20% from the 2016 edition. Frum (, ) is a word that describes Jewish religious devotion. The term connotes the observance of Halakha, Jewish religious law in a way that often exceeds its bare requirements.
