Discovery Channel (Italian TV Channel)
Discovery Channel is an Italian television channel. Discovery Channel was launched on 1 September 1997 on the pay-television platforms TELE+ Digitale and Stream TV and has been exclusive to Sky Italia since its launch in 2003. With the launch of Sky Italia, Discovery quickly branched out by launching the additional channels Discovery Travel & Adventure, Discovery Science and Discovery Civilisation Channel, followed by Animal Planet and Discovery Real Time in 2005. The present Discovery Channel logo was adopted on 9 April 2019. A timeshifted version of the channel, called Discovery Channel +1, started on 10 November 2008. In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. Real Time (Discovery Real Time until 31 August 2010) is an Italian television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA. The channel launched on 1 October 2005, becoming the sixth Discovery network to launch in Italy. It showed lifestyle programmes targeting a female upper-class audience of 25- to 44-year-olds. It features both foreign programmes and Italian programmes produced for the channel. On 7 April 2009 the channel adopted a new logo and a new look.
