Kazuki Ōmori
was a Japanese film director and screenwriter. Career Born in Osaka, Ōmori studied at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine and held a license to practice medicine. While in school, he began making films independently, with ''Kuraku naru made matenai!'' (1975), which featured Seijun Suzuki, receiving particularly high praise. His script "Orenji rōdo kyūkō" won the 3rd Kido Award for screenplays in 1977, and the next year he was able to film that in his professional debut. Several of his films, such as the 1980 ''Hipokuratesu-tachi'', feature doctors or rely on his knowledge of medicine. He has worked in a variety of genres, including suspense films, musical films, musicals, and most famously abroad, several contributions to the Heisei Godzilla series. was a Japanese actor and singer, known for his portrayals of rugged and complex antiheros. He received a variety of accolades, including a Japan Academy Film Prize, two Blue Ribbon Awards, two Hochi Film Awards, and five Kinema Junpo Awards. , born (24 May 1923 – 13 February 2017), was a Japanese filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter. His films are known for their florid visual style, absurd humour, and a playful rejection of traditional film grammar. He made 40 predominately B-movies for the Nikkatsu Company between 1956 and 1967, working most prolifically in the yakuza genre. His increasingly surreal style began to draw the ire of the studio in 1963 and culminated in his ultimate dismissal for what is now regarded as his magnum opus, '' Branded to Kill'' (1967), starring notable collaborator Joe Shishido.
