Dirty Epic
"Dirty Epic" is a 1994 single by British electronic band Underworld. It is a remix of the track "Dirty" released by Underworld in 1992, under the name Lemon Interupt. It appeared on the album ''dubnobasswithmyheadman'', and it was later released as a single in Europe in October 1994 and released in the US as a double A-side with "Cowgirl". The song failed to chart, but was critically acclaimed for its stream of consciousness lyrics and similarities to a pop song in structure and instruments, but major differences to pop despite that. It has been listed on multiple outlets lists of best Underworld songs. Background Underworld began as a band in 1987, releasing funk and synth-pop music. This phase of the band is known as "Underworld Mk 1", and it disbanded in 1990. When The Levee Breaks
"When the Levee Breaks" is a country blues song written and first recorded by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy in 1929. The lyrics reflect experiences during the upheaval caused by the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. "When the Levee Breaks" was re-worked by English rock group Led Zeppelin as the last song on their untitled fourth album. Singer Robert Plant used many of the original lyrics and the songwriting is credited to Memphis Minnie and the individual members of Led Zeppelin. Many other artists have performed and recorded versions of the song. Geinoh Yamashirogumi
is a Japanese musical collective founded on January 19, 1974 by Tsutomu Ōhashi, consisting of hundreds of people with different occupations. They are known for both their re-creations of globally-known folk music, along with music combining traditional and modern elements. Some fusions include an electronic recreation of traditional Indonesian gamelan music, due to MIDI digital synthesizers not being able to handle such tuning systems. Their 1986 album, ''Ecophony Rinne'', introduced these computer-generated sounds. The success of this album brought them to the attention of Katsuhiro Ōtomo, who commissioned them to create the soundtrack of '' Akira''. Akira (1988 Film)
is a 1988 Japanese animated cyberpunk action film directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, produced by Ryōhei Suzuki and Shunzō Katō, and written by Otomo and Izo Hashimoto, based on Otomo's 1982 manga of the same name. Set in a dystopian 2019, it tells the story of Shōtarō Kaneda, a leader of a biker gang whose childhood friend, Tetsuo Shima, acquires incredible telekinetic abilities after a motorcycle accident, eventually threatening an entire military complex amid chaos and rebellion in the sprawling futuristic metropolis of Neo-Tokyo. While most of the character designs and settings were adapted from the manga, the plot differs considerably and does not include much of the last half of the manga, which continued publication for two years after the film's release.
