Directors Label
''Directors Label'' is a series of DVDs released by Palm Pictures compiling the work of notable music video directors. The series' first three volumes, featuring the work of Spike Jonze, Chris Cunningham, and Michel Gondry, were released in 2003. Four new volumes were released in 2005, this time featuring Mark Romanek, Jonathan Glazer, Anton Corbijn and Stéphane Sednaoui. Though future releases in the series are unlikely, according to series creator Richard Brown, other directors that were at one point rumoured or planned for releases include Mike Mills, Hammer & Tongs, Shynola, Jean-Baptiste Mondino and Roman Coppola, as well as a planned hip-hop and R&B series featuring Paul Hunter, Director X, and Chris Robinson. Chris Robinson (born September 28, 1967 in Edgewood, Maryland) is an American film director, commercial director, and music video director. He has directed films such as Netflix original '' Beats'' (2019). He has directed commercials for brands such as iPod, Coca-Cola and Verizon and music videos for songs like " Fallin'" and "You Don't Know My Name" by Alicia Keys, "Roc Boys" by Jay-Z, the Grammy nominated video for " One Mic" by Nas, and "Bonnie & Clyde '03" by Jay-Z featuring Beyoncé. Da Funk
"Da Funk" is an instrumental track by French electronic music duo Daft Punk, initially released as a 12-inch single in May 1995 by Soma and Virgin and later included on their debut album, ''Homework'' (1997). Prior to its inclusion on the album, "Da Funk" received little attention and was limited to 2,000 copies. The song and its accompanying music video directed by Spike Jonze are considered classics of 1990s house music. It went on to sell 30,000 copies in 1997. A reversed clip of the song was also released on ''Homework'' as "Funk Ad", which is the final track on the album. Daft Punk produced "Da Funk" after listening to American G-funk records: the bass was composed using a Roland TB-303 synthesizer. The Breeders
The Breeders are an American alternative rock band based in Dayton, Ohio, consisting of members Kim Deal (rhythm guitar, lead vocals), her twin sister Kelley Deal (lead guitar, vocals), Josephine Wiggs (bass guitar, vocals) and Jim Macpherson (drums). The earliest incarnation of the band was formed by Kim Deal and Tanya Donelly in 1989 as a side-project alongside their full-time bands Pixies (band), Pixies and Throwing Muses respectively. Kim Althea Gordon (born April 28, 1953) is an American musician, singer and songwriter best known as the bassist, guitarist, and vocalist of alternative rock band Sonic Youth. Born in Rochester, New York, she was raised in Los Angeles, California, where her father was a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. After graduating from Los Angeles's Otis College of Art and Design, she moved to New York City to begin an art career. There, she formed Sonic Youth with Thurston Moore in 1981. She and Moore married in 1984, and the band released a total of six albums on independent labels before the end of the 1980s. Wax was an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California. Wax emerged during the pop punk resurgence of the early 1990s, and included Joe Sib, Tom "Soda" Gardocki, Dave Georgeff, and Loomis Fall. The band is best known for their MTV Buzz Bin, buzz clip video "California", directed by Spike Jonze. History ''13 Unlucky Numbers'' included the single "California", whose music video was later called "infamous" by ''NME'' and has been included on Artforum's website. The video depicted a man on fire running in slow motion, and was quickly banned from daytime airplay on MTV.
