''Dioryctria pygmaeella'', the baldcypress coneworm moth, is a species of snout moth in the genus ''Dioryctria''. It was described by Émile Louis Ragonot in 1887 and is restricted to the coastal plains of the eastern United States and eastern Texas. There are up to three generations per year. Émile Louis Ragonot (12 October 1843 – 13 October 1895) was a French entomologist. In 1885, he became president of the '' Société entomologique de France''. The Pyralidae, commonly called pyralid moths, snout moths or grass moths, are a family of Lepidoptera in the ditrysian superfamily Pyraloidea. ''Taxodium ascendens'', also known as pond cypress, is a deciduous conifer of the genus '' Taxodium'', native to North America. Many botanists treat it as a variety of bald cypress, '' Taxodium distichum'' (as ''T. distichum'' var. ''imbricatum'') rather than as a distinct species, but it differs in habitat, occurring mainly in still blackwater rivers, ponds and swamps without silt-rich flood deposits.
