Dig It (Klaus Schulze Album)
''Dig It'' is the thirteenth album by Klaus Schulze. It was originally released in 1980, and in 2005 was the sixth Schulze album reissued by Revisited Records. It is Schulze's first fully digital recording. The 2005 reissue includes a bonus DVD with the video recording of the 1980 performance at Ars Electronica, which was previously released as audio on '' The Ultimate Edition'' (2000). Digital Recording
In digital recording, an audio signal, audio or video signal is converted into a stream of discrete numbers representing the changes over time in air pressure for audio, or Color, chroma and luminance values for video. This number stream is saved to a storage device. To play back a digital recording, the numbers are retrieved and converted back into their original analog signal, analog audio or video forms so that they can be heard or seen. In a properly matched analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and digital-to-analog converter (DAC) pair, the analog signal is accurately reconstructed, within the constraints of the Nyquist–Shannon sampling theorem, which dictates the sampling rate and quantization error dependent on the Audio bit depth, audio or Bit depth (computer graphics), video bit depth. The Ultimate Edition
''The Ultimate Edition'' is a limited edition 50-disc CD box set released by Klaus Schulze in 2000 collecting his previous limited edition multi-disc box sets ''Silver Edition'' (1993, 10 discs), ''Historic Edition'' (1995, 10 discs), and ''Jubilee Edition'' (1997, 25 discs), which contain unreleased archival recordings in addition to new studio material. A further five discs were added for this release. Several discs were altered and restructured from their original versions: discs 7 and 8 were extended by five minutes; discs 11, 13, 14, and 22 were slightly remastered; and discs 41 and 42 were restructured. Two tracks from ''Jubilee Edition'' were omitted ("The Unspoken Thing" from Disc 19 and "Ludwigs Traum" from Disc 21). Klaus Schulze
Klaus Schulze (4 August 1947 – 26 April 2022) was a German electronic music pioneer, composer and musician. He also used the alias Richard Wahnfried and was a member of the Krautrock bands Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel, and the Cosmic Jokers before launching a solo career consisting of more than 60 albums released across six decades. Early life Schulze was born in Berlin in 1947. His father was a writer, and his mother a ballet dancer. After graduating from high school, he delivered telegrams and studied German at Technische Universität Berlin. He and his wife Elfie had two sons Maximilian and Richard. ''Trancefer'' is the fourteenth album by Klaus Schulze. It was originally released in 1981, and in 2006 was the twenty-third Schulze album reissued by Revisited Records. With the original total running time of 37 minutes and 23 seconds, it was the shortest album in Schulze's canon until the 2006 reissue doubled its running time by including alternate versions of the main tracks. Overview ''Trancefer'' features strong performances by Wolfgang Tiepold on cello and Michael Shrieve on percussion. Although it was his second album recorded with digital instruments, and has a great deal of treble, it is an example of the Berlin School genre which developed in the 1970s. The second track, "Silent Running", was inspired by the science fiction film ''Silent Running'' starring Bruce Dern.
