Didymocheton Mollis
''Didymocheton mollis'' is a species of flowering plant in the family Meliaceae. It is a tree native to Sulawesi, the Maluku Islands, New Guinea, and the Bismarck Archipelago. It is most closely related to '' Didymocheton mollissimus'' of Malesia and mainland Southeast Asia, '' D. alliaceus'' of the Solomon Islands and western Pacific Islands, and '' D. muelleri'' of northeastern Australia. Taxonomy The species was first described as ''Dysoxylum molle'' by Friedrich Anton Wilhelm Miquel in 1868, from a holotype collected in southwestern New Guinea. In 1994 David Mabberley reclassified it as ''Dysoxylum mollissimum'' subsp. ''molle'', which included the populations in Sulawesi, Maluku, New Guinea, and the Bismarck Archipelago, along with Australian populations previously classified as ''Dysoxylum muelleri''. A 2021 study by Holzmeyer, Hauenschild, Mabberley, ''et al.'' concluded that ''Dysoxylum'' was polyphyletic, and that the Australian population constituted a distinct species ...

David Mabberley
Professor David John Mabberley , (born May 1948) is a British-born botanist, educator and writer. Among his varied scientific interests is the taxonomy of tropical plants, especially trees of the families Labiatae, Meliaceae and Rutaceae. He is perhaps best known for his plant dictionary ''The plant-book. A portable dictionary of the vascular plants''. The third edition was published in 2008 as '' Mabberley's Plant-book'', for which he was awarded the Engler Medal in Silver in 2009. As of June 2017 '' Mabberley's Plant-book'' is in its fourth edition. Friedrich Anton Wilhelm Miquel
Friedrich Anton Wilhelm Miquel (24 October 1811 – 23 January 1871) was a Dutch botanist, whose main focus of study was on the flora of the Dutch East Indies. Early life Miquel was born in Neuenhaus and studied medicine at the University of Groningen, where, in 1833, he received his doctorate. After starting work as a doctor at the Buitengasthuis Hospital in Amsterdam, in 1835, he taught medicine at the clinical school in Rotterdam. In 1838 he became correspondent of the Royal Institute, which later became the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, and in 1846 he became member. He was professor of botany at the University of Amsterdam (1846–1859) and Utrecht University (1859–1871). He directed the Rijksherbarium (National Herbarium) at Leiden from 1862. Plants of the World Online (POWO) is an online database published by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. It was launched in March 2017 with the ultimate aim being "to enable users to access information on all the world's known seed-bearing plants by 2020". The initial focus was on tropical African Floras, particularly Flora Zambesiaca, Flora of West Tropical Africa and Flora of Tropical East Africa. ''Dysoxylum'' is a flowering plant genus of trees and shrubs from the mahogany family, Meliaceae. Botanical science has recorded about eighty species in this genus, growing widely across the regions of Malesia, the western Pacific ocean, Australia and south & southeastern Asia; centred on the tropics between the Pacific and Indian Oceans. ''Didymocheton muelleri'', the red bean or Miva mahogany, is a rainforest tree in the family Meliaceae. It occurs in tropical, sub-tropical and littoral rainforests in eastern Australia, from the Bellinger River in New South Wales in the south, to the wet tropics of north-eastern Queensland.
