Dick O'Bree
Richard John O'Bree (5 June 1936 – 21 January 2024) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood Football Club, Collingwood in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL). Early career Originally from Lake Boga, O'Bree made his senior debut as a fifteen year old with his local club and as a seventeen-year-old played in a Lake Boga premiership and kicked 118 goals in the 1953 home and away season with Lake Boga in the Central Murray Football Netball League, Mid Murray Football League, with another 22 in the finals. In 1954 he kicked 94 goals before work took him to Euroa. VFL career Collingwood had attempted to lure the young Full-forward for years before O'Bree signed with them on match permits. Lake Boga
Lake Boga () is a town in Victoria, Australia, located next to the lake of the same name. It is situated within the Rural City of Swan Hill within the Mallee region of north-west Victoria. At the 2016 census, Lake Boga had a population of 985. The town is located north west of Melbourne and south east of the regional centre Swan Hill. History The Wemba-Wemba Indigenous Australian people occupied the lake for thousands of years before the arrival of Major Sir Thomas Mitchell in June 1836. Two German Moravian missionaries, Reverend A.F.C. Täger and Reverend F.W. Spieseke, established Lake Boga mission in 1851. The mission closed in 1856 due to lack of converts, disputes with local authorities and hostilities from local landholders. Colin Saddington
Colin Keith Saddington (26 June 1937 – 18 April 2012) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Saddington was a ruckman and occasional defender, recruited locally. He polled the equal most votes by a Richmond player in the 1959 Brownlow Medal. From 1963 to 1965, Saddington played 26 games for Sturt in the South Australian National Football League. Punt Road Oval
Punt Road Oval, also known by naming rights sponsorship as the Swinburne Centre, is an Australian rules football ground and former cricket oval located within the Yarra Park precinct of East Melbourne, Victoria, situated a few hundred metres to the east of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The oval is a former venue of the Victorian Football League (now Australian Football League), with 544 VFL/AFL premiership matches played there between 1908 and 1964. The venue is the training and administrative headquarters of the Richmond Football Club, and also hosts the club's reserves and women's premiership matches. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now known as the AFL) in 1908 and has since won 13 premierships, most recently in 2020. Richmond's headquarters and training facilities are located at its original home ground, the Punt Road Oval, which sits adjacent to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the club's playing home since 1965. ''The Argus'' was an Australian daily morning newspaper in Melbourne from 2 June 1846 to 19 January 1957, and was considered to be the general Australian newspaper of record for this period.
