Diana Plotkin
Diana Plotkin is a neighborhood activist in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles. As president of the Beverly Wilshire Homes Association (BWHA), she led challenges to local projects including the Ma Maison Sofitel (hotel and restaurant), the Los Angeles Red Line Subway, the Grove shopping mall and the Beverly Connection shopping mall. She and the BWHA later reached settlement agreements with Ma Maison Sofitel, the Grove and the Beverly Connection in exchange for dropping their opposition. She has recently reversed her position on the subway, supporting its expansion. She has been a member of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party's Central Committee (LADCP) since 1994, and is co-chair of the LADCP's Candidate Interview Committee, the body that recommends candidates for endorsement by the party. Beverly Wilshire Homes Association
The Beverly Wilshire Homes Association is a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization in the Fairfax District of Los Angeleshttp://www.bwhaonline.org . that was instrumental in launching the 1978 California tax-reform initiative Proposition 13 and has played an ongoing role in anti-development activities in Los Angeles. The group was founded in the 1950s to fight oil drilling under area homes. Ma Maison
Ma Maison was a restaurant opened by Patrick Terrail in October 1973 at 8368 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, California. It closed in November 1985. Ma Maison is credited with getting Wolfgang Puck's career off the ground and for starting the trend in cuisine known as "California nouvelle". According to the Los Angeles Times, "By using ingredients sourced from the local farmers markets that highlighted the glory of California's produce and pairing it with French technique, they created a new type of cuisine." Ma Maison was also known for being a hot spot for celebrities and Hollywood figures of the time. B Line (Los Angeles Metro)
The B Line (formerly Red Line from 1993–2020) is a fully underground rapid transit line operating in Los Angeles, running between Downtown Los Angeles and North Hollywood.
