Dial House, Essex
Dial House is a farm cottage situated in south-west Essex, England that has been a self-sustaining anarcho-pacifist open house since 1967. The house is located in the countryside of Epping Forest in Ongar Great Park. It has been used as a base for a number of cultural, artistic, and political projects ranging from avant-garde jazz events to helping found the free festival movement. Perhaps the best-known manifestation of the public face of Dial House was the anarcho-punk band Crass. Following the DIY punk ethic, Crass combined the use of song, film, sound collage and graphics to launch a critical polemic against a mainstream which they considered to be built on foundations of war, religion, and consumerism. Dial House, Sheffield
Dial House is a Grade II listed building located on Ben Lane in the Wisewood area of the City of Sheffield in England. The house was originally a private small country house, before becoming a working men's club and more recently part of a development of modern apartments. History Private house The house was constructed in 1802. It consists of two storeys with a three window range and is built from squared stone with a stone slate roof. The house had various additions and alterations to it in the 19th and 20th centuries. The front door has a square panel above with a vertical sundial attached, this has the date 1802 and the name Coopland on it. Gives details of architecture. It is not known if Coopland were the first family to live in the house or were the makers of the sundial. There is also a verse on the sundial which reads: The Ordnance Survey map of 1850 shows Dial House in a rural location well outside the town of Sheffield before its industrial expansion. Allen Dial House Allen Dial House, located on Cedar Valley Farm, is a historic home located near Laurens, Laurens County, South Carolina. It was built about 1855, and is a -story, rectangular frame dwelling sheathed in narrow width weatherboard in a vernacular interpretation of the Greek Revival style. It sits on a high stuccoed masonry foundation. The front facade features a pedimented portico supported by four paired and fluted pillars. Also on the property is a rectangular one-story outbuilding, originally a kitchen.
