''Dheena'' is a 2001 Indian Tamil-language action film written and directed by AR Murugadoss in his directorial debut. The film stars Ajith Kumar and Suresh Gopi in the lead roles along with Laila as the female lead. Gopi made his Tamil debut with this film. The music and background score is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by K. Aravind. ''Dheena'' was released on 14 January 2001. The film received positive reviews and became a commercial success. It marked the beginning of a new image of Ajith Kumar and he earned his nickname, ''Thala'' (leader), from this film. Plot The film starts with the police arresting Aathikesavan's men as suspects for burning Minister Malarvannan's liquor shop. Dhina (also credited as Dheena) (; born on 15 January 1966) is an Indian film and television series composer from Tamil Nadu, India. Biography and career Dhina first worked as an assistant musician under popular composer G. K. Venkatesh, later being engaged by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja as a music conductor. He later became a music director for several Tele serials scoring for the title tracks. Some of his popular title scores for the serials include '' Chitthi'', ''Annamalai'', ''Ninaivugal'', ''Payanam'', ''Nambikkai'', '' Chellamay'', '' Metti Oli'' among others. It was the Radhika produced hugely popular teleseries '' Chitthi'' that gave Dhina a very big break. Dheena (born 27 January 1990) is an Indian actor, comedian and screenwriter who works prominently in Tamil films. He is known for playing one of the lead roles in the films '' Thumbaa'' (2019), ''Kaithi'' (2019) and ''Master'' (2021) and as a contestant in the television show '' Kalakka Povathu Yaaru?''.
