Devata
''Devata'' (pl: ''devatas'', meaning 'the gods') are smaller and more focused Devas (Deities) in Indian religions, such as Hinduism and Buddhism. The term "devata" itself can also mean deva. They can be either male or female. Every human activity has its devata, its spiritual counterpart or aspect. Types There are many kinds of devatas: vanadevatas (forest spirits, perhaps descendants of early nature-spirit cults), gramadevata (village gods), devatas of river crossings, caves, mountains, and so on. For example, in the Konkan region of India, Hindu devatas are often divided into five categories: # Gramadevata, Grama devatas or village deities who could be the founder deity such as Punjabi folk religion#Jathera—ancestral shrines, Jathera or Balinese Hinduism#Rituals, ancestral worship of Bali, and examples include Santoshi, Renuka, Aiyanar # Sthana devatas or local deities, for example, those in certain places of pilgrimage like Rama in Nasik, Vithoba in Pandharpur, Krishn ...

Devta (1956 Film)
''Devta'' () is a 1956 Hindi partly coloured swashbuckler film written by Sadasiva Bramham and directed by Pattana. The film stars Vyjayanthimala in the title role, along with Gemini Ganeshan and Anjali Devi in the lead, while Agha, Bipin Gupta, Krishna Kumari and M. N. Nambiar form an ensemble cast. The film was produced by Narayanan Iyengar with his production company; Narayanan Company. The music was composed by C. Ramchandra, with lyrics provided by Rajendra Krishan. The film was a remake of the 1955 Tamil film ''Kanavane Kankanda Deivam''. Plot This film narrated the story of a king (Bipin Gupta) who loses his sight and needs a "Nagi Jyothi" (serpent light) found in "Sarpaloka" (serpent world). ''Devta'' ( ''deotā'', "deity") is a serialized fantasy thriller novel written in the Urdu language by Mohiuddin Nawab. It was published monthly for 33 years in the Pakistani magazine ''Suspense Digest'' from February 1977 to January 2010. ''Devta'' is the fictional autobiography of Farhad Ali Taimoor, a man who gained telepathic powers.
