''Devata'' (pl: ''devatas'', meaning 'the gods') are smaller and more focused Devas (Deities) in Indian religions, such as Hinduism and Buddhism. The term "devata" itself can also mean deva. They can be either male or female. Every human activity has its devata, its spiritual counterpart or aspect. Types There are many kinds of devatas: vanadevatas (forest spirits, perhaps descendants of early nature-spirit cults), gramadevata (village gods), devatas of river crossings, caves, mountains, and so on. ''Devata'' is a 1941 Indian Telugu-language drama film directed by B. N. Reddy. The huge success of this film led to the making of more films with the same title in 1964 by B. Padmanabham and in 1982 by D. Ramanaidu. The film was remade in Malayalam as '' Pavappettaval'' (1967). Plot The film follows Venugopala Murthy "Venu" ( Nagayya), who returns to his village after completing his studies in England to become a barrister. His mother Mangamma (Parvathi Bai) and sister Sita (Tanguturi Suryakumari) are overjoyed by his return. ''Devata'' () is a 1965 Indian Telugu-language drama film, produced by B. Purushottam, presented by comedian Padmanabham on his Rekha & Murali Combines banner and directed by K. Hemambharadhara Rao. It stars N. T. Rama Rao and Savitri, with music composed by S. P. Kodandapani. Plot The film begins with an ideal couple, Prasad & Sita, who lead a delightful life with a son, Madhu. ''Devata'' is a 1978 Indian Hindi-language film, directed by S. Ramanathan. The film stars Sanjeev Kumar, Shabana Azmi and Danny Denzongpa in lead roles. It is remake of Tamil film '' Gnana Oli''. Synopsis Tony, a village orphan marries his sweetheart, but loses her in childbirth. He showers all his love and devotion on his daughter Mary. ''Devatha'' () is a 1982 Indian Telugu-language film directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, starring Sobhan Babu, Sridevi, Jaya Prada and Mohan Babu. The film was produced by D. Rama Naidu on Suresh Productions banner. The film is about two sisters and their love triangle with a man. K.
