Desahogo (Vico C Album)
''Desahogo'' is the seventh studio album released by Puerto Rican singer Vico C. It was released by EMI Latin on March 1, 2005 and is the follow-up of ''En Honor a la Verdad'' (2003). The album blends and fusion rap with traditional tropical music such as reggae, Cuban guaijra, vallenato and salsa along with R&B and reggaeton with raging lyrics from protest about political corruption, consumerism and social criticism to love, regrets, and romance. According the artist, it is his most complete album. It features guest appearances by Eddie Dee, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Cultura Profetica, Mala Rodriguez, Ivy Queen and D'Mingo. Initially, the album was set to be released on February 15, 2005. However, it was delayed due some recorded material were lost and later recovered. ''Deshago'' was praised by the critics. Vico C
Luis Armando Lozada Cruz (born September 8, 1971), known by his stage name Vico C, is an Puerto Rican rapper, singer and record producer. Regarded as the founding father of reggaeton, Vico C has played an influential role in the development of Latin American hip-hop and urban music. Early life and influence He was born in New York and raised in Puerto Rico. Nicknamed ''El Filósofo del Rap'', ("The Philosopher of Rap"), Luis Armando Lozada Cruz adopted the professional name Vico C. 6th Annual Latin Grammy Awards
The 6th Annual Latin Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium on Thursday, November 3, 2005. It was the first ceremony to be broadcast by Univision in the United States. Ivan Lins was the big winner, winning two awards, including Album of the Year. He is the first and only Brazilian and Portuguese-language artist to win Album of the Year to date. Ivy Queen
Martha Ivelisse Pesante Rodríguez (born March 4, 1972), known professionally as Ivy Queen, is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer and actress. She is considered one of the pioneers of the reggaeton genre, commonly referred to as the Queen of Reggaeton. Ivy Queen began her career as a member of the otherwise all-male collective The Noise in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Domingo Quiñones
Domingo Quiñones is a singer of salsa music. He is also a composer, producer and actor. Domingo Quinones was born on August 9, 1963, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. When he was four years old he moved to Puerto Rico with his parents and lived in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. He returned to New York City in 1977. He began his career there six years later with the Conjunto Nativo. He also performed with other groups, including the orchestra of Rafael de Jesús, with José Alberto "El Canario", with Johnny Rodriguez and the Conjunto Clásico. María Rodríguez Garrido (born February 13, 1979), known as Mala Rodríguez, is a Spanish Latin hip hop rapper and singer based in Barcelona. Cultura Profética (in English, ''Prophetic Culture'') is a Puerto Rican reggae band formed in 1996. The band has undergone several lineup changes, but founding members Willy Rodríguez (bass guitar, vocals), Eliut González (guitar), and Omar Silva (guitar, bass guitar) have remained in the group throughout its history. Despite primarily performing reggae music, Cultura Profética has experimented with genres such as bossa nova, tango, jazz, and salsa. Gilberto Santa Rosa Cortés (), nicknamed "El Caballero de la Salsa" (The Gentleman of Salsa) (born August 21, 1962), is a Puerto Rican bandleader and singer of salsa and bolero. Eddie Alexander Ávila Ortiz (born April 26, 1977), originally known by his stage name Eddie Dee, is a Puerto Rican rapper. He began his career in 1990 and launched his debut studio album three years later. His second album became popular in Puerto Rico and was titled ''Tagwut'' in 1997. It featured the hit single "Señor Official". His following releases ''El Terrorista de la Lírica'' (2000) and ''Biografía'' (2001), likewise enjoyed underground success. Social Criticism
Social criticism is a form of academic or journalistic criticism focusing on social issues in contemporary society, in respect to perceived injustices and power relations in general.
