Derrick Nix (American Football)
Derrick Nix (born February 22, 1980) is an American football coach and former player who is currently the offensive coordinator at Auburn University. He played college football at Southern Miss where he was the only player in Conference USA history to rush for over 1,000 yards in three seasons. Early years Nix grew up in Attalla, Alabama. His father was a pastor and his older brother Tyrone played linebacker Southern Miss before becoming a coach. Nix attended Etowa High School where he was an all county selection as a senior. Nix was recruited by Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Florida as a linebacker but he instead decided to commit to the University of Southern Mississippi as he wanted to play running back and his brother worked as an assistant coach at the school. An offensive coordinator (OC) is a Coach (sport), coach responsible for a gridiron football team's offense (American football), offense. Generally, the offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator represent the second level of coaching structure, with the head coach being the first level. Jeff Bower (American Football)
Jeffrey Jon Bower (born May 28, 1953) is an American former college football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at University of Southern Mississippi for 18 seasons, from 1990 to 2007, compiling a record of 119–83–1. Bower assumed the role of head coach at Southern Miss on December 2, 1990, and announced his retirement on November 26, 2007, effective after the 2007 PapaJohns.com Bowl, which was played on December 22. The Golden Eagles had a winning record in Bowers' final 14 seasons and played in a bowl game in 10 of his last 11 seasons. The Tarleton State Texans football program, also known as the Tarleton Texans, is the intercollegiate American football team for Tarleton State University located in the U.S. state of Texas. Through the 2019 season, the team competed in NCAA Division II as members of the Lone Star Conference, but moved to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) beginning in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Danny Hugh Freeze Jr. (born September 27, 1969) is an American college football coach. Since 2023, he has served as the head coach for Auburn University. A successful high school football coach at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, Tennessee, Freeze coached Michael Oher and Greg Hardy.
