The Departmental Council of Alpes-Maritimes () is the deliberative assembly of the French department of Alpes-Maritimes. Its headquarters are in Nice. Executive Presidents The president of the departmental council of Alpes-Maritimes is Charles Ange Ginésy ( LR) since 2017. Vice-presidents The president of the departmental council is assisted by 16 vice-presidents chosen from among the departmental councillors. Each of them has a delegation of authority. Composition The departmental council includes 54 departmental councilors from the 27 cantons of Alpes-Maritimes. The absolute majority is historically on the right. The National Centre of Independents and Peasants (, ; CNIP) is a right-wing agrarian political party in France, founded in 1951 by the merger of the National Centre of Independents (CNI), the heir of the French Republican conservative-liberal tradition (many party members came from the Democratic Republican Alliance), with the Peasant Party and the Republican Party of Liberty. It played a major role during the Fourth Republic (prior to 1958), but since creation of the Fifth Republic, its importance has decreased significantly. European Green Deal
The European Green Deal, approved in 2020, is a set of policy initiatives by the European Commission with the overarching aim of making the European Union (EU) climate neutral in 2050. The plan is to review each existing law on its climate merits, and also introduce new legislation on the circular economy (CE), building renovation, biodiversity, farming and innovation. Éric Ciotti ( or , ; born 28 September 1965) is a French politician who led The Republicans (LR) from 2022 to 2024. He has represented Alpes-Maritimes's 1st constituency in the National Assembly since the 2007 legislative election. Once a member of The Republicans' right-wing, he was seeking to distance the party from Emmanuel Macron's presidency.
