Dennis O'Connor (judge)
Dennis R. O'Connor, was the Associate Chief Justice of Ontario from 2001–2012 and sat on the Court of Appeal for Ontario from 1998–2012. O'Connor attended De La Salle College and Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in Toronto. He practised law from 1973 until 1976. From 1976 to 1980 he became a teacher at the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Law and from there went to practise litigation at Borden, Elliot in Toronto. He was a negotiator for the Government of Canada in the Yukon land claim debate. He was eventually appointed to the Ontario Court of Appeal in 1998 and was elevated to Associate Chief Justice of Ontario in 2001. He was appointed Commissioner in the Walkerton Inquiry in 2000, and was Commissioner in the Maher Arar Inquiry from 2004 to 2006. Dennis James O'Connor
Dennis James O'Connor (January 27, 1886 – November 26, 1946) was a Quebec politician. An Irish Quebecer, O'Connor was born in Godmanchester, Quebec to farmer Andrew O'Connor and his wife, Mary Walsh. He studied agriculture at Macdonald College and engineering through International Correspondence Schools. O'Connor worked as a farmer and was also involved with O'Connor Brothers, his family's road construction firm, and owned and operated a garage. He became president of the chamber of commerce in Huntingdon, Quebec and served as an alderman on the town council from 1917 to 1922 and as mayor of Huntingdon from 1922 to 1931. He then served as chairman of the school board from 1937 to 1946. O'Connor was elected to the House of Commons of Canada by acclamation as the Liberal MP for Châteauguay—Huntingdon in a January 27, 1930 by-election but lost the seat in the 1930 federal election, held six months later, losing by fewer than 500 votes to Conservative John Clarke Moore. ... Denis Maurice O'Conor ( ga, Donnchadh Muirgheas Ó Conchubhair Donn; 1840 – 26 July 1883) was an Irish barrister and Liberal Party politician who represented County Sligo in the House of Commons. The second son of Denis O'Conor, O'Conor Don and the brother of Charles Owen O'Conor, O'Conor Don, Denis Maurice O'Conor was educated at Downside School and the University of London, graduating MA in 1861 and LLD in 1866. He was called to the bar by the Middle Temple in Easter Term, 1866. A magistrate for County Roscommon, he was High Sheriff of Roscommon for 1865. A Liberal and a Home Ruler, O'Conor represented County Sligo in the House of Commons from December 1868 until his death, at his residence in Queen's Gate, Kensington, on 26 July 1883.
