The Democratic Party of Oregon is the Oregon affiliate of the Democratic Party. The State Central Committee, made up of two delegates elected from each of Oregon's 36 counties and one additional delegate for every 15,000 registered Democrats, is the main authoritative body of the party. The party has 17 special group caucuses which also each have representation on the State Central Committee. Nathan Soltz
Nathan Joseph Soltz is an American politician serving as the Chair of the Democratic Party of Oregon. Before becoming party chair, Soltz ran for Salem City Council in 2024 but lost to real estate broker Shane Matthews by 42 votes. He also worked as legislative staff for various state senators: Alan Bates (politician), Alan Bates in 2016, Lew Frederick in 2017-2019, and Jeff Golden in 2019. He has served as Frederick's chief of staff since 2019. Biography Soltz is Jewish. His mother is an immigrant from El Salvador whose biological father was Japanese, and Soltz's father is of Jewish ancestry. He is LGBTQ. Oregon's 6th congressional district is a congressional district created after the 2020 United States census. It consists of Polk and Yamhill Counties, in addition to portions of Marion, Clackamas, and Washington Counties. It takes in all of urban Salem, the state's capital, as well as the southwestern suburbs of Portland. The district elected a member of the United States House of Representatives beginning with the 2022 elections. There were originally sixteen candidates that entered in the race, more than for any other congressional seat in the state in 2022. Oregon's 5th congressional district stretches from the Southeast corner of Portland through the eastern half of the Willamette Valley and then reaches across the Cascades to take in Sisters and Bend. It includes a sliver of Multnomah County, the majority of Clackamas County, the rural eastern portion of Marion County, most of Linn County, a very small section of southwest Jefferson County, and the populated northwest portion of Deschutes County.
