Delaware's 4th Senate District
Delaware's 4th Senate district is one of 21 districts in the Delaware Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Laura Sturgeon since 2018, following her defeat of incumbent Republican Gregory Lavelle. Geography District 4 covers many of Wilmington's northwestern suburbs in New Castle County, including Hockessin, Greenville, Pike Creek, Talleyville, Granogue, Brandywine, Alapocas, Montchanin, Runnymeade, Delaware Heights, Rockland, Winterthur, Wooddale, and other unincorporated areas. Like all districts in the state, the 4th Senate district is located entirely within Delaware's at-large congressional district. It overlaps with the 4th, 12th, 21st, and 22nd districts of the Delaware House of Representatives. Delaware Senate District 4 (2020)
Delaware ( ) is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, bordering Maryland to its south and west; Pennsylvania to its north; and New Jersey and the Atlantic Ocean to its east. The 2020 United States presidential election in Delaware was held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, as part of the 2020 United States presidential election in which all 50 states plus the District of Columbia participated. Delaware voters chose electors to represent them in the Electoral College via a popular vote, pitting the Republican Party's nominee, incumbent President Donald Trump from Florida, and running mate Vice President Mike Pence from Indiana against Democratic Party nominee, former Vice President Joe Biden, and his running mate California Senator Kamala Harris. The 2018 Delaware Senate election was held on November 6, 2018 to elect 10 of the 21 members to Delaware's State Senate. Twelve-Mile Circle
The Twelve-Mile Circle is an approximately circular arc which forms most of the boundary between Pennsylvania and Delaware. It is not actually a circle, but rather a combination of different circular arcs that have been feathered together. It is nominally a circle with a supposed—yet in fact only approximate and variable— radius, centered in the town of New Castle, Delaware. In 1750, the center of the circle was fixed at the cupola of the courthouse in New Castle. The Twelve-Mile Circle continues into the Delaware River. A small portion of the circle, known as the "Arc Line," also forms part of the Mason-Dixon line, separating Delaware and Maryland. Two other small portions, although not actually demarcated until 1934, form parts of the boundary between the states of Delaware and New Jersey. Wooddale is an unincorporated community in New Castle County, Delaware, United States. Wooddale is located along the Red Clay Creek and Rolling Mill Road, west of Wilmington.
