Death Of Alloura Wells
Alloura Wells ( Alloura Hennessy and Alloura Wheeler) was a Canadian transgender mixed-race woman who died in Toronto in July 2017. Her body was discovered in a ravine the following month, but she was not reported missing until 6 November 2017, and her badly decomposed body was not identified until 23 November. Wells's death brought attention to a marginalized community and brought criticisms against the Toronto Police Service (TPS) and The 519 community centre over mismanagement of information. Internal and external reviews were called by both organizations over their policies and accusations of bias against transgender peoples. The Vanier Centre for Women () in Milton, Ontario is a medium correctional facility for female offenders serving sentences of less than two years or who have been arrested and are remanded in custody awaiting trial. 2010–2017 Toronto Serial Homicides
Between 2010 and 2017, a total of eight men disappeared from the neighbourhood of Church and Wellesley, the Gay village, LGBTQ village of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The investigation into the disappearances, taken up by two successive police task forces, eventually led to Bruce McArthur, a 66-year-old self-employed Toronto landscaping, landscaper, whom they then arrested on January 18, 2018. On January 29, 2019, McArthur pleaded guilty to eight counts of first-degree murder in Ontario Superior Court and was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment in Canada, life imprisonment with no eligibility for parole for twenty-five years. Murder Of Tess Richey
Tess Richey (30 November 199425 November 2017) was a Canadian woman who was killed after a Friday night out with a friend in the Church and Wellesley neighbourhood of Toronto. Four days after she had disappeared, her body was discovered by her mother at the bottom of an outdoor stairwell two houses from where she was last seen. A homicide investigation led to the arrest of Kalen Schlatter, who has been convicted of first-degree murder. The Toronto Police Service (TPS) was criticized for failing to find the body when it was so close to where Richey had disappeared. TPS Chief Mark Saunders quickly ordered an internal review of her case, and later recommended an external review of how the TPS conducts missing persons investigations. Mark Saunders (born 1962) is a Canadian politician and retired police officer who served as chief of police with the Toronto Police Service (TPS) from 2015 to 2020.
