Death And State Funeral Of Lee Kuan Yew
On 23 March 2015, Lee Kuan Yew, the founding prime minister of Singapore and co-founder of the People's Action Party, died at the age of 91 at 03:18 Singapore Standard Time ( UTC+08:00), after having been hospitalised at the Singapore General Hospital with severe pneumonia since 5 February that year. A formal announcement was made on national television and radio by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at 08:00 that morning. Many world leaders, governments, international organizations, and individuals issued public condolences. A week-long period of national mourning was declared by the government, from 23 to 29 March 2015. All flags, including the National Flag, in Singapore were flown at half-mast during the period. Singapore General Hospital
Singapore General Hospital (SGH) is an academic health science centre and tertiary referral hospital in Singapore. It is located next to the Bukit Merah and Chinatown districts of the Central Region, close to the Outram Community Hospital (OCH), which functions as a supplementary community and rehabilitation hospital to SGH for newly discharged patients. There is also the Outram Polyclinic to complement outpatient care. All of these institutions are operated by SingHealth, which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Health (MOH). Goh Chok Tong
Goh Chok Tong (born 20 May 1941) is a Singaporean former politician who served as the second prime minister of Singapore from 1990 to 2004 and as a senior minister of Singapore from 2004 to 2011. The Singapore Turf Club was founded in 1988 as the Bukit Turf Club to manage horse racing for the Singapore Totaliser Board (Tote Board). It is the only horse-racing club in Singapore and is part of the Malayan Racing Association.
