Davy Jones's Locker
Davy Jones' locker is a metaphor for the oceanic abyss, the final resting place of drowned sailors and travellers. It is a euphemism for drowning or shipwrecks in which the sailors' and ships' remains are consigned to the depths of the ocean (to be ''sent to Davy Jones' Locker''). First used in print in 1726, the name Davy Jones' origins are unclear, with a 19th-century dictionary tracing Davy Jones to a "ghost of Jonah". Other explanations of this nautical superstition have been put forth, including an incompetent sailor or a pub owner who kidnapped sailors. History The earliest known reference of the negative connotation of Davy Jones occurs in ''The Four Years Voyages of Capt. George Roberts'', attributed to Daniel Defoe (but potentially involving the journal of a real George Roberts), published in 1726 in London. And elsewhere in ''The Four Years Voyages'': Proposed origins of the tale The origin of the tale of Davy Jones is unclear, and many conjectural or folklo ...

The Ocean Blue
The Ocean Blue is an American indie pop band formed in Hershey, Pennsylvania, in 1986. Its original members included David Schelzel on lead vocals/guitar, Steve Lau on keyboards/saxophone, Bobby Mittan on bass guitar and Rob Minnig on drums and vocals. Early career The members of the Ocean Blue first met in junior high school. They cut a series of demos while in high school, with Scott Stouffer sitting in on drums. They managed to get two of these earliest recordings, "On Growing Up" and "Wounds of a Friend", included on a local radio station compilation in late 1986. The compilation also included very early work from noted local artists the Innocence Mission, who were friends and mentors of the Ocean Blue. Rob Minnig would join as permanent drummer in 1987, and the classic line-up of Schelzel/Lau/Minnig/Mittan would continue through 1994. Sire Records years The Ocean Blue's members were still in high school when they signed a three-album deal in 1988 with Sire Records, at th ...

Bermuda Triangle (album)
''Bermuda Triangle'' is the eighth studio album by Buckethead. The album is primarily an electronica-based collaboration with Extrakd, who also produced and mixed the album. The album has been described as an "instrumental underground hip-hop/electro-funk fantasia" and "snippets of blazing metal, washes of delayed patterns, relaxed lines matched with stuttering drums, and vice versa", dealing with several Bermuda Triangle incidents and other sea/sailor related themes. The album was recorded on a portable multi-track recorder. Track listing *All tracks written by Buckethead and Extrakd. Notes * "Mausoleum Door" includes a sample from the 1979 movie '' Phantasm''. * "Isle of Dead" includes a sample from the 1975 movie ''Death Race 2000''. * "911" was recorded on September 11, 2001. Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper
''Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper'' is the fifth studio album by American recording artist Panda Bear (aka Noah Lennox). Coproduced by Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3, it was released on January 9, 2015, by the Domino Recording Company. ''Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper'' was preceded by the digital release of an extended play, '' Mr Noah'', and two singles, "Mr Noah" and "Boys Latin". It was followed by the extended play ''Crosswords''. Background and development Having recorded his bleaker previous album ''Tomboy'' (2011) in a basement, Lennox wanted to go into the opposite direction on ''Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper'', aiming for a more "lively" and "busy" sound. He began working on the album while recording Animal Collective's '' Centipede Hz'' (2012) in Texas. Sonic Boom, who mixed and mastered Panda Bear's previous album ''Tomboy'', co-produced the album. The two spent two weeks in November 2013 refining demo recordings Panda Bear had made at home and spent five weeks, begin ...
