Davon Morgan
Davon Morgan (born January 28, 1989) is an American college football coach and former safety. He is the head football coach for Bluefield State University, a position he has held since 2024. He played college football at Virginia Tech. Professional career Morgan had only started one full year (23 overall starts) for the Hokies. However, in that one year he put together 5 interceptions, 82 total tackles (53 solo tackles), 4 pass breakups, 9 passes defended, 1 fumble recovery, 1 forced fumble, 5 tackle for loss, and 1 blocked punt. New York Jets In May 2011, Morgan signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent. He was later waived September 2, 2011. Richmond Raiders On December 23, 2012, Morgan signed with the Richmond Raiders. Philadelphia Eagles On May 19, 2014, Morgan signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as free agent. Safety (American And Canadian Football Position)
Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. While American (11-player) formations generally use two safeties, Canadian (12-player) formations generally have one safety and two defensive halfbacks, a position not used in the American game. Bluefield State University (Bluefield State) is a university in Bluefield, West Virginia that is an historically black university. It is a part of West Virginia's public education system and converted to a university in the summer of 2022. It added residential housing options that include double or single rooms with full meal plans. Bluefield State University is a member school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. CIAA institutions mostly consist of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The twelve member institutions reside primarily along the central portion of the East Coast of the United States, in the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The High Country Grizzlies were a professional indoor football team that began play in the 2017 season. Based in Boone, North Carolina, the Grizzlies played their home games at the George M. Holmes Convocation Center on the campus of Appalachian State University. History On April 14, 2016, American Indoor Football (AIF) announced that it had granted an expansion franchise to the High Country region for the 2017 season. At an introductory press conference on July 14, the Grizzlies officially introduced themselves, their staff, head coach, name, logo, colors and venue.
