David Norman (Australian Footballer)
David Norman (born 1 April 1942) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1960s. Norman starred for North Ballarat in the 1960 BFL season and won the league's "Best and Fairest" award, known as the Henderson Medal. The following season he joined Collingwood where he would spend six seasons as a rover and small forward. Known for his strength and courage, Norman appeared as a half forward flanker in the 1964 VFL Grand Final but ended up on the losing team. He kicked a career high 40 goals that year, bettering his 36-goal effort in 1962. Neither were enough to top Collingwood's goal-kicking but he earned that accolade in 1965 when he booted 32 goals. Norman also twice kicked six goals in a game during his career, both times against North Melbourne. Professor David Norman (born 1949) is a British Chartered Physicist and ornithologist, he has lived in Cheshire since 1978. Physics Professor Norman is a former director of synchrotron radiation, Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils, Daresbury Laboratory. He was a visiting professor in surface science at the University of Liverpool. Ornithology Since 2005 he has been an independent member of the United Kingdom's Rare Breeding Birds Panel and he is a member of the RSPB Council, and chairman of the Merseyside Ringing Group. He is an honorary research associate of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, spending up to a month each year at their Powdermill Nature Reserve. He served on the council of English Nature from 1996 to 2002 (and in September 2000 became interim acting chairman for six months). David McDonald Norman Jr. (born 6 May 1962) is a Canadian former soccer player who played as a defensive midfielder. Club career Scotland-born Norman grew up playing soccer in Coquitlam, British Columbia and went on to play 17 years as a professional. Norman began his pro career with the Vancouver Whitecaps of the North American Soccer League from 1981 to 1984, scoring three goals. During the winter months between 1980 and 1982, he played for University College Dublin A.F.C., in the League of Ireland, making 45 appearances and scoring 8 goals. Along with three Canadian teammates he was released in February 1982. Norman played one season of indoor soccer for the Whitecaps in 1983–84. David Patrick Norman (born 19 September 1968) is a former English cricketer. Norman was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born at Ely, Cambridgeshire. Norman made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Cambridgeshire against Suffolk in 1989. From 1989 to 1999, he represented the county in 60 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which against Bedfordshire. He made his debut in the MCCA Knockout Trophy in 1990 against Norfolk. From 1990 to 1995, he represented the county in 10 Trophy matches, the last of which came against Buckinghamshire.
