David Johnston (Newsreader)
David Johnston (born 4 December 1941) is a Welsh-born Australian retired television news presenter. Johnston, known as ''DJ'' to hundreds of thousands of viewers and colleagues, presented his last bulletin on the Seven Network on 23 September 2005. He and wife Eve retired in a property at Bendigo to enjoy country life and be close to their daughter, her husband and their grandchildren. Early life and education After emigrating from Wales as an 11-year-old with his mother Lillian in 1953, Johnston settled in Victoria's western districts and later started his secondary education at Terang High School. But his mother soon moved them to Olinda to start a children's holiday home and when that venture failed financially, David had to leave school aged 15 to earn some money. He did various jobs, including working in a nursery and in the middle of it all David realised he wanted to be on radio. ATV is a television station in Melbourne, Australia, part of Network 10 – one of the three major Australian free-to-air commercial television networks. The station is owned by Paramount Networks UK & Australia. History In April 1963, the licence to operate Melbourne's third commercial television station was awarded to Austarama Television, owned by transport magnate Reginald Ansett. The new channel, ATV-0 (pronounced as the letter ''O'', never the number ''zero''), began transmission on 1 August 1964 from a large modern studio complex located in the then-outer eastern suburb of Nunawading, in the locality now known as Forest Hill, Victoria, Forest Hill, but referred to at the time as Burwood East. Jennifer Hansen
Jennifer Hansen is an Australian journalist and former news presenter on Network 10's ''Ten News'' in Melbourne. Alongside Mal Walden, the pair made history as the longest serving duo presenting news in Australia. Jennifer has co-hosted the breakfast radio show on radio station smoothfm 91.5 with Mike Perso. Early life and education Hansen was born in Orbost and raised in suburban Melbourne; the psychologist Margot Prior was her stepmother and she had seven siblings and half-siblings, including a sister who died in infancy. Mal Walden
Mal Walden is a former English-born Australian retired journalist and television news presenter based in Melbourne. On his retirement, he was reported to be the longest continually serving face on Australian television with a media career spanning six decades. Walden was the main presenter of the Seven Network Melbourne program ''Seven National News'' from 1978 to 1987 and the Ten Network program ''Ten Eyewitness News'' from 1987 until 2013. Walden was farewelled at State Parliament hosted by Premier Denis Napthine and awarded a lifetime achievement quill by the Melbourne Press Club. Marie-Louise Theile (born 1966) is a former Australian news presenter. She presented '' Ten News at Five'' in Brisbane and Melbourne. She is currently the Director of New Initiative - a niche branding, marketing and place making creative agency with a particular emphasis on property and precinct developments. Tracey Ilana Curro (born 27 November 1963 in Ingham, Queensland) is an Australian journalist. Curro has previously been a news presenter on GMV-6, QTQ-9 and ATV-10 and a reporter on the Seven Network's ''Beyond 2000'', a science-technology show, and correspondent on ''60 Minutes''. Bruce Mansfield (24 April 1944 – 17 April 2016) was an Australian television/radio personality and narrator. Early career Mansfield began in radio at age 16, when he won a junior announcer's competition at the 3UZ radio station in 1960. The prize was 100 pounds ($200) and a week on-air. Peter Mitchell (born 14 June, 1960) is an Australian television presenter. He has been the chief news presenter for HSV-7 of their flagship bulletin "''Seven News Melbourne"'' since the year 2000, and prior to that, he was the weekend news presenter. Career Mitchell began at the Nine Network in 1977 as a sport reporter. In this position he covered sports such as Australian rules football, golf, tennis and the Commonwealth Games. In 1982, Peter became a general news reporter and in this position he covered many stories including Victoria's horrific Ash Wednesday bushfires in 1983. In 1987, Mitchell joined the Seven Network and became weekend news presenter.
