Sir David Alan Walker (born 31 December 1939) is a British banker and former chairman of Barclays. He was chairman of Morgan Stanley International from 1995 to 2001, and 2004 to 2005, and remains a senior advisor. Walker was previously Assistant Secretary at the Treasury (1974–77), chairman of the Securities and Investments Board (1988–92), executive director for finance and industry at the Bank of England (1989–95) and deputy chairman of Lloyds TSB (1992–94). In 1994 he also joined the Washington-based financial advisory body, the Group of Thirty. In 2007, Walker was commissioned by the UK private equity industry to produce guidelines for disclosure and transparency in private equity. On 9 February 2009, he was appointed to lead a government enquiry into banks' corporate governance; the appointment was criticised. David Walker (born August 1, 1947) is a Canadian politician. He served in the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 1997, as a member of the Liberal Party. Walker was born in Sudbury, Ontario. He earned the following academic credentials: a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University (1970), a Master of Arts from Queen's University (1974), and a Ph.D. from McMaster University (1976). He was a professor of political science at the University of Winnipeg in Manitoba from 1974 to 1988, and was also an adjunct professor at the University of Manitoba from 1977 to 1988. David Lee Walker (born December 4, 1969) is an NFL assistant coach who formerly served as the running backs coach of the Chicago Bears. Early life Walker grew up in the Rochester, New York suburb of Irondequoit, where he was a four-time all-county football player. He was captain of an Irondequoit Indians team that won the Sectional championship in 1987, and was later selected as an inaugural member of the Section V Football Hall of Fame. Playing career Recruited by dozens of major colleges, Walker chose to attend Syracuse University, where he became one of the most prolific running backs for a school renowned for great runners. He finished his college career with 2,643 rushing yards, which was the fourth best total in school history when he graduated. David Robert Walker (born 12 November 1945) is an Australian academic historian who has been the professor of Australian studies at Deakin University since 1991. He is a leading authority in the study of Australian perceptions of Asia. Early life and education Walker was born in Adelaide in 1945 and received his early education in rural South Australian schools where his father was a teacher. The family settled in Adelaide in 1958 and Walker graduated from the University of Adelaide with a first class honours degree in Arts in 1967. David Marr Walker (October 3, 1835 – 1920) was a lawyer, judge and political figure in Manitoba. He represented St. James in 1879 and Westbourne from 1880 to 1882 in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. He was born in Woodhouse, Norfolk County, Upper Canada, the son of Solomon Walker and Sarah Osborne, and was educated in Norfolk County, at the University of Toronto and at Osgoode Hall. In 1856, he married Anna Bella Anderson. Walker was called to the Ontario bar in 1860 and practised in Simcoe County until 1870. In that year, he came to Winnipeg with the Wolseley Expedition. Walker resumed the practice of law there, serving as solicitor for the city of Winnipeg from 1874 to 1878. Walker served in the Manitoba cabinet as Attorney General. David James Walker (10 May 1905 – 28 November 1995) was a Canadian politician. Born in Toronto, Ontario, he was educated at Jarvis Collegiate Institute, the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1931. He was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada for the Toronto riding of Rosedale in the 1957 election after first losing the 1953 election.
