''Darkness in Tallinn'' (a.k.a. ''City Unplugged''; ) is a 1993 feature film, a satirical political Thriller (genre), thriller directed by Ilkka Järvi-Laturi and written by Paul Kolsby. The film premiered on September 12, 1993, at the Toronto International Film Festival, Toronto Festival of Festivals, and later played at the Sundance Film Festival in January 1994. Written by an American and directed by a Finn (the two met at New York University), the film was one of the more unusual and most popular of 1993. It was reshown at the Rotterdam Filmfestival 2013 for professional audience. Ilkka Järvi-Laturi
Ilkka Untamo Järvi-Laturi (28 November 1961 – 5 March 2023) was a Finnish-born US-based film director whose best known film was ''Spy Games'' (1999) starring Bill Pullman and Irene Jacob. The film was shot in Helsinki, New York (state), New York and Toronto. Järvi-Laturi had a cameo role in the film. Before making the film ''Spy Games'', Järvi-Laturi directed and served as co-director of several films in Finland. He has also acted in the 1985 film ''The Unknown Soldier (1985 film), The Unknown Soldier''. Enn Klooren
Enn Klooren (21 June 1940 – 26 March 2011) was an Estonian actor. Klooren was born in Tallinn and grew up in Türi. After graduating the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1968 Klooren worked in the Estonian Drama Theatre. Since 1989, he lived in Järva County, where he organized, among other things, an amateur theatre. Klooren has also played in several movies including ''Metskapten'' (1971), ''Toomas Nipernaadi'' (1983), ''Karoliine hõbelõng'' (1984), ''Tallinn pimeduses'' (1993), ''Jan Uuspõld läheb Tartusse'' (2007) and ''Kormoranid ehk nahkpükse ei pesta'' (2011). Garmen Tabor ( Garmen Suurmets; born on 19 April 1968 in Rakvere) is an Estonian actress and theatre director. In 1992 she graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Tallinn State Conservatory's Performing Arts Department. From 1992 until 2002, she worked at Estonian Drama Theatre, 2002–2003 at Vanalinnastuudio. 2003–2007 she was a freelance actress. 2005–2008 she worked at Kuressaare Linnateater. 2009–2011 she was stage manager () and director at Estonia Theatre. Salme Helene Reek (10 November 1907 – 9 June 1996) was an Estonian stage, film, radio, and television actress and stage director whose career spanned nearly seventy years; sixty-six of which were spent as an actress at the Estonian Drama Theatre. Early life and education Salme Helene Reek was the oldest of three siblings born to paper pulp factory worker Juhan Reek and housewife Julia Reek (''née'' Erberg) in Pärnu. Her younger siblings were Hilda (1911–1990), and Oskar (1922–1939) who died at age seventeen. During Reek's early years, the family lived in near-poverty in a one-room apartment on Suur-Kuke Street, later moving into a two-room studio apartment.
