Darius Williams (defensive Back)
Darius Williams (born August 11, 1998) is an American football defensive back for the Vegas Knight Hawks of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He played college football at Carson-Newman University. Early life Williams was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. He attended school at Osceola Fundamental High School for his freshman and the first semester of his sophomore year. He then transferred to Northside Christian School. He played as a safety while at Northside Christian School. He was named a Blue-Gray all-American and Pinellas County All-Star for having the most tackles for a defensive back over a two-year period in high school. College career Williams attended Carson–Newman University where he played for the Eagles. He participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl in 2020, after four seasons at the collegiate level. In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. They are distinguished from the other two sets of defensive players, the defensive linemen who play directly on the line of scrimmage, and the linebackers, who play in the middle of the defense, and between the defensive line and the defensive backs. Among all the defensive backs, there are two main types, cornerbacks, which play nearer the line of scrimmage and the sideline, whose main role is to cover the opposing team's wide receivers, and the Safety (gridiron football position), safeties, who play further back near the center of the field, and who act as the last line of defense. East–West Shrine Bowl
The East–West Shrine Bowl is a postseason college football all-star game that has been played annually since 1925; through January 2019, it was known as the East–West Shrine Game. The game is sponsored by the fraternal group Shriners International, and the net proceeds are earmarked to some of the Shrine's charitable works, most notably the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The game's slogan is "Strong Legs Run That Weak Legs May Walk." Teams consist of players from colleges across the country, and players may be college seniors or college underclassmen who have declared for the NFL Draft who are eligible to play for their schools. The game and the practice sessions leading up to it attract dozens of scouts from professional teams.
