Thanom Kittikachorn (, , ; 11 August 1911 – 16 June 2004) was Prime Minister of Thailand from 1963 to 1973, military officer, who supported and initiated military coups and became Thailand's defence minister. He rose to power when he staged a self-coup, until 1973 Thai popular uprising, public protests which exploded into violence forced him to step down. His return from exile in 1976 sparked protests which led to a Thammasat University massacre, massacre of demonstrators, followed by a October 1977 Thai coup d'état, military coup. Mueang Samut Sakhon (, ) is the capital district ('' amphoe mueang'') of Samut Sakhon province, central Thailand. History ''Mueang'' Tha Chin dates back to the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Maeklong Railway
The Maeklong Railway (also known as the Mae Klong Railway) is a railway that runs for nearly between Wongwian Yai, Bangkok, and Samut Songkhram in central Thailand. The railway became famous for its route through the Maeklong Railway Market, nicknamed (; ), meaning the "umbrella pulldown market". It is one of the largest fresh seafood markets in Thailand and is centered on the Maeklong Railway's track. Whenever a train approaches, the awnings and shop fronts are moved back from the rails, to be replaced once the train has passed. The Mae Klong (, , ), sometimes spelled Meklong, is a river in western Thailand. The river begins in Kanchanaburi Province and flows across Ratchaburi Province and Samut Songkhram Province. Course The origin of the river is in Kanchanaburi town, at the confluence of the Khwae Noi (Khwae Sai Yok) and the Khwae Yai River (Khwae Si Sawat) rivers, having their sources in the eastern side of the Tenasserim Hills. It flows roughly southeastwards and southwards, often forming meanders across a wide floodplain. The river passes by the towns of Ban Pong and Ratchaburi in Ratchaburi Province. The Chakri dynasty is the current reigning dynasty of the Thailand, Kingdom of Thailand. The head of the house is the Monarchy of Thailand, king, who is head of state. The family has ruled Thailand since the founding of the Rattanakosin era and the city of Bangkok in 1782; following the end of Taksin's reign, when the capital of Siam shifted to Bangkok.
