Dante's Inferno (1924 Film)
''Dante's Inferno'' is a 1924 American silent drama horror film directed by Henry Otto that was released by Fox Film Corporation and adapted from '' Inferno'', part of Dante Alighieri's epic poem ''Divine Comedy''. The film mixes material from Dante's "Inferno" with plot points from Charles Dickens' ''A Christmas Carol''. The book was filmed earlier in 1911 in Italy as ''L'Inferno'', and Fox later remade the film in 1935, again as ''Dante's Inferno'', starring Spencer Tracy in the lead role. Plot The tactics of a vicious slumlord and greedy businessman named Mortimer Judd finally drive a distraught man named Eugene Craig, whom he has forced into bankruptcy, to commit suicide. Henry Otto
Henry Otto (August 8, 1877 – August 3, 1952) was an American silent film actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. Otto contributed to over 150 films throughout his career, working as an actor and a director throughout. He directed many films in 1914, in films such as '' When a Woman Waits'', '' In Tune'', '' The Archeologist'', and '' The Redemption of a Pal'' working with actors such as Edward Coxen, Charlotte Burton and George Field. He retired from film in 1942. Otto was found dead on August 4, 1952, in Los Angeles. Epic Poem

Howard Gaye
Howard Gaye (23 May 1878 – 26 December 1955) was a British actor who worked mainly in the United States. Gaye's father was a co-owner of the Gaiety Theatre in London. Before Gaye became an actor, he worked as a newspaper reporter in England. During a visit to the United States in 1912, he was invited to join the Kalem Company. After working there, he joined D. W. Griffith's stock company in 1914. He acted in 27 silent films, including D. W. Griffith's epics ''The Birth of a Nation'' (1915) as Robert E. Lee and ''Intolerance'' (1916) as Jesus Christ. Lorimer Johnston (November 2, 1858 in Maysville, Kentucky – February 20, 1941 in Hollywood, California) was an American silent film actor and director. He was involved in the production of over 60 films in acting and directing and he also wrote the scripts for twelve films, according to IMDb, nearly all shorts. In religion and folklore, hell is a location or state in the afterlife in which souls are subjected to punishment after death. A slumlord (or slum landlord) is a slang term for a landlord, generally an absentee landlord with more than one property, who attempts to maximize profit by minimizing spending on property maintenance, and usually rents to tenants that they can intimidate. Severe housing shortages allow slumlords to charge higher rents and, when they can get away with it, to break rental laws. ''Dante's Inferno'' is a 1935 American drama horror film starring Spencer Tracy and loosely based on Dante Alighieri's ''Divine Comedy''. The film remains primarily remembered for a 10-minute depiction of hell realised by director Harry Lachman, himself an established Post-Impressionist painter. This was Fox Film Corporation's last film to be produced under the Fox Studios banner before the company merged with Twentieth Century Pictures to form 20th Century-Fox Film Corporation. Plot Jim Carter, a former stoker, takes over a fairground show, run by 'Pop' McWade, which depicts scenes from Dante's Inferno. He marries Pop's niece Betty and they have a son, Alexander.
