Danny Cox (radio Presenter)
Danny Cox is a British radio presenter and journalist. He currently presents music-based shows on Virgin Radio Anthems and Virgin Radio 80s Plus; he is also a journalist for BBC News Streaming, a presenter of ''The Newsroom'' on the BBC World Service, and a presenter at BBC Radio Oxford. Career Cox's career began at BBC Radio Leicester. In the 1980s, Cox presented the chart show on Radio Trent in Nottingham. The show involved a countdown of the best-selling pop music songs of the week, with some or all of the songs being played in full. In the latter half of the 1990s, he worked as a presenter at Fox FM (now known as Heart Oxfordshire) in Oxfordshire; during this time, he lost his fiancee, the broadcaster Sue McGarry, to suicide. Virgin Radio UK is a national Hot Adult Contemporary radio station in the United Kingdom that launched on 30 March 2016, owned by News Broadcasting, which is itself a subsidiary of News Corp. It is the second incarnation of Virgin Radio in the UK: the original station launched in 1993 before being rebranded as Absolute Radio in 2008. BBC Radio Leicester is the BBC's local radio station serving the counties of Leicestershire, City of Birmingham, South Staffordshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth and Rutland. The station merged with two other East Midlands stations, Leicester Sound and Ram FM to form Capital FM East Midlands (part of Global's Capital FM Network) on Monday 3 January 2011. Heart Oxfordshire (formerly Fox FM) was an Independent Local Radio station broadcasting to Oxfordshire on 102.6 MHz FM from the Oxford transmitting station and 97.4 MHz FM from a relay station at Farthinghoe, near Banbury.
