Danmarks Grimmeste Festival (Denmark's ugliest Festival) is a small music festival, held each summer at a farm in Skjoldhøjkilen, Brabrand; a suburb of Aarhus, Denmark Denmark is a Nordic countries, Nordic country in Northern Europe. Danmarks Grimmeste Festival features a broad range of genres, including rock, pop, electronic, hip hop and punk music. It is based on volunteers and about 5,000 people attended the 2015 festival. The festival started out as a garden party of four friends at the farm in 2004, and has grown continuously. The 2015 event was the 12th festival and lasted three days from 30 July to 1 August. Skjoldhøjkilen
Skjoldhøjkilen is a recreational and natural site, in the district of Brabrand in the western part of Aarhus in Denmark. It stretches westwards from Hasle Hills, like a wavy green strip of meadows, small lakes and woodlands. It is 3.5 km long and just as Hasle Hills, it is administered by the self-governing institution 'Hasle Bakker'. Reconstruction The landscape and nature of Skjoldhøjkilen was recently restored and recreated in a series of five construction projects finished in 2005. The projects comprised afforestations, restoration of the stream of Voldbækken, construction of multipurpose rainwater reservoirs, and various road constructions. As a consequence, Skjoldhøjkilen now constitutes a connected woodland area with the newly raised forest of True Skov to the west, thereby constituting a large green wedge of nature cutting its way into the city from the countryside. Brabrand
Brabrand () is a postal district of Aarhus Municipality, Denmark. South of Brabrand, in the Aarhus river-valley, is the largest recreational area of Aarhus Municipality, comprising the Brabrand Lake and the meadow-lake of Årslev, with surrounding natural sites. History Brabrand was originally a village 6–9 km west of Aarhus, founded in the 18th century, by clearing the land by forest burning (the Danish name reflects this), and its economy was initially based on farming and associated trades. The village became a suburb of Aarhus in 1970 and has now merged with the city. Aarhus Vest (lit.: Aarhus West) or Aarhus V, is a postal district in the city of Aarhus, consisting of Hasle, Herredsvang, Møllevangen and Frydenlund.
