Daniel Turner (18 September 1667 – 13 March 1740/41) was a London physician who published the first textbook on dermatology in English. ''De Morbis Cutaneis'' was first published in 1714 and went through several English editions. It was also published in French and German. Turner started his medical career as a barber surgeon. Daniel Turner (naval Officer)
Daniel Turner (1794? probably Richmond, Staten Island – 4 February 1850) was an officer in the United States Navy. Naval career Turner was appointed a midshipman in the Navy on 1 January 1808. Following brief duty at the New York Naval Station, he served in ''Constitution'' on the North Atlantic Station. On 8 June 1812, he received orders to Norwich, Connecticut, where he took command of the gunboats located there. On 14 March 1813, two days after receiving his commission as a lieutenant, Turner was sent to Sackett's Harbor, New York, located on the shores of Lake Erie. There, he took command of ''Niagara'', a brig in Oliver Hazard Perry's squadron. However, just before the Battle of Lake Erie, he relinquished command to Captain Jesse D. Elliott and assumed command of ''Caledonia''. Daniel Turner (North Carolina Politician)
Daniel Turner (September 26, 1796 – July 21, 1860) was a U.S. Congressman from North Carolina (1827 – 1829). Turner was born in Warrenton, North Carolina as the son of future North Carolina Governor James Turner. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1814, and served in the War of 1812 as an assistant engineer with the rank of second lieutenant. As a result of the US Army's post-war reduction, he resigned in May 1815. He was a member of the North Carolina House of Commons (1819–1824). He was elected to the House of Representatives of the 20th Congress in 1827, serving one term. From 1854 until his death, he was superintending engineer of public works at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Daniel Webster Turner (March 17, 1877April 15, 1969) was an American Republican politician who served as the 25th Governor of Iowa from 1931 until 1933. Biography Daniel Webster Turner, named after the famed antebellum senator and orator, was born on a farm near Corning, Iowa. As a boy, he did farm chores and clerked at the general store owned by his father, a civil war veteran. Graduating from the Corning Academy in 1898, he enlisted in the Army and served in the Philippines during the Spanish–American War. He boxed in the division championship fights and won, but suffered a broken nose that became a permanent facial feature. Returning from the war, he joined the National Guard and rose to the rank of major. In 1903, at age 26, he was elected to the Iowa Senate. Daniel Turner (hymn Writer)
Daniel Turner (1710–1798) was an English teacher and Baptist minister, now known as a hymn-writer. Life Turner was born at Blackwater Farm, near St. Albans, on 1 March 1710. He kept a boarding-school at Hemel Hempstead. His pupils there included William Kenrick and Hugh Smith. At the same time he made a reputation as an occasional preacher in Baptist chapels. In 1741 he was chosen pastor of the Baptist church in Reading, Berkshire. He moved in 1748 to Abingdon, and held the pastorate there until his death on 5 September 1798. He was buried in the Baptist cemetery at Abingdon. Turner received the honorary degree of M.A. from the Baptist College, Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.A. He was a friend and correspondent of Robert Robinson, John Rippon, Isaac Watts, and others. Daniel Turner (born July 22, 1983) is an American artist based in New York City. His media include sculpture, photography, video and drawing. Early life and work Daniel Turner studied painting and printmaking at Norfolk State University and received a B.F.A. from San Francisco Art Institute. Turner worked in construction and demolition before being employed as a security guard at The New Museum in New York City. He was hospitalized several times for psychosis resulting in an action titled, ''Burning an Entire Body of Work'' (2006) in which he burned all previous paintings to date. Turner now works primarily in sculpture often involving the creation or transformation of materials, objects and environments into architectural or ephemeral forms.
