Danger Mouse (1981 TV Series)
''Danger Mouse'' is a British animated television series produced by Cosgrove Hall Productions for Thames Television. It features the eponymous Danger Mouse who worked as a secret agent and is a parody of British spy fiction, particularly the ''Danger Man'' series and James Bond. It originally ran from 28 September 1981 to 19 March 1992 on the ITV network. The series spawned a spin-off show, ''Count Duckula'', which aired between 1988 and 1993. A revival under the same name, aired on CBBC from 2015–2019. Plot Danger Mouse is a secret agent with the British Secret Service, and together with his sidekick Penfold is repeatedly ordered by Colonel K, the head of the Secret Service, to save the world. They work underneath Scotland Yard on Baker Street in London, hidden inside a red pillar box. ''Danger Mouse'' is a children's animated television series, produced by FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment and Boulder Media, though it started being produced by Boat Rocker Media in 2018 after they acquired FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment. The series, which is a revival of the 1981 television series of the same name, sees the return of Danger Mouse, the self-proclaimed "World's Greatest Secret Agent", and his hamster sidekick Penfold, who protect the world from a variety of dangers. With help from his boss Colonel K and the genius scientist Professor Squawkencluck, Danger Mouse is equipped to defeat his nemesis, Baron Silas von Greenback. Plans for a revival of ''Danger Mouse'' were first considered in 2013, before being announced the following year, with original series co-creator Brian Cosgrove helping to develop the series. Brian Joseph Burton (born July 29, 1977), known professionally as Danger Mouse, is an American musician and record producer. He came to prominence in 2004 when he released '' The Grey Album'', which combined vocal performances from Jay-Z's '' The Black Album'' with instrumentals from the Beatles' ''The Beatles'', also known as ''The White Album''. In 2008, ''Esquire'' named him one of the "75 most influential people of the 21st century". Danger Mouse formed Gnarls Barkley with CeeLo Green in 2006 and produced its albums '' St. Elsewhere'' and '' The Odd Couple''. In 2009, he collaborated with James Mercer of the indie rock band The Shins to form the band Broken Bells; the band released three albums since then, with '' Into the Blue'' (2022) being the most recent one. Burton collaborated with rapper MF Doom as Danger Doom on ''The Mouse and the Mask'' and with emcee Black Thought on '' Cheat Codes''.
