The play was originally performed in Hawaii in by Terence Knapp and has had numerous professional and amateur productions since that time. The play is set in 1936 when Damien's body is being transported from Molokai to his native Belgium. Damien's story is retold through a series of flashbacks. ''Damien'' featuring Terence Knapp was broadcast nationally on PBS in the United States in 1978 and again in 1986 on ''American Playhouse''. The broadcast received a number of recognitions including a Peabody Award. "Damien" is the tenth episode of the first season of the American animated television series ''South Park''. It originally aired on Comedy Central in the United States on February 4, 1998. In the episode, the boys' class is joined by a new student named Damien, who has been sent by his father Satan to find Jesus and arrange a boxing match between the two. The majority of South Park's residents bet on Satan to win the match due to his enormous size and muscular physique, but Satan ultimately throws the fight and reveals he bet on Jesus, thus winning everybody's money. Damien High School is an all-boys Roman Catholic high school in La Verne, in the U.S. state of California, named for Saint Damien of Molokai. It is located in and operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, part of the tri-school community including St. Lucy's Priory High School and Pomona Catholic High School. History When Holy Names Academy, a Pomona boarding school for girls, closed in 1949, the Msgr. Thomas P. English reopened it as Pomona Catholic High School, staffed by the Felician Sisters.
