Dalit Sujag Tehreek
The Dalit Sujag Tehreek (DST) is a movement and organisation representing the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, scheduled caste Hindu communities in Pakistan. Its core committee consists of 21 people from different scheduled caste Hindu communities such as Kolhi, Bheel, Meghwar, Oad, Bhagri. History The movement was launched in 2016 during the 125th anniversary of the birth of B. R. Ambedkar, Baba Saheb Ambedkar at Mirpur Khas, Mirpurkhas. It was formed by the combination of different Scheduled Caste organisations in Pakistan like Bheel Intellectual Forum (BIF), Oad Samaji Tanzeem, Pakistan Meghwar Council, Baghri Welfare Association, All Sindh Kolhi Association, Sindh Kolhi Itehad (Nemdas group), Sindh Kolhi Itehad (Ranshal Group), Qaumi Awami Tehreek and the Scheduled Caste Federation of Pakistan (SCFP). Kolhi
The Kolhi () is a subgroup of the Koli caste native to Sindh, Pakistan. Kolhis are mostly Hindus but some of them are Koli Christians or Muslim Kolis. They engage in agriculture; most of them are poor peasants and sharecroppers. The Kolhi caste is said to have originated Gujarat. They migrated from there first to Kutch, then to Thar and Parkar. Kolhis have subcastes such as Thakor, Khant, Baria and Chunvalia. Mirpur Khas
Mirpur Khas (Sindhi language, Sindhi and ; ''meaning "Town of the most-high Talpur, Mirs"'') is a city in Sindh province, Pakistan. The city was built by Talpur rulers of Mankani branch. Dalit ( from meaning "broken/scattered") is a term used for untouchables and outcasts, who represented the lowest stratum of the castes in the Indian subcontinent. They are also called Harijans. Hinduism is the second largest religion in Pakistan after Islam. Though Hinduism was the dominant faith in the region a few centuries back, its adherents accounted for just 2.17% of Pakistan's population (approximately 5.2 million people) according to the 2023 Pakistani census.
