Dir En Grey (stylized as DIR EN GREY and previously as Dir en grey) is a Japanese Heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in February 1997 and currently signed to Firewall Div., a sub-division of Free-Will. With a consistent lineup of guitarists vocalist Kyo (musician), Kyo, Kaoru (musician), Kaoru and Die (musician), Die, bassist Toshiya (musician), Toshiya, and drummer Shinya (Dir En Grey musician), Shinya, they have released eleven full-length albums. Numerous stylistic changes have made the genre of their music difficult to determine, though it is generally considered to be a form of metal. Originally a visual kei band, the members later opted for more subtle attire, but have continued to maintain a dramatic image on stage. is a Japanese rock band formed in Nagoya in May 1991. They quickly achieved success with their 1994 major label debut album ''Mayoeru Yuritachi'', which reached number three on the Oricon Albums Chart. Following the departure of guitarist Shin in 1995, vocalist Kiyoharu and bassist Hitoki remained the only official members. Each of their five subsequent albums reached the top seven on the chart, with ''Feminism'' (1995) and '' Fake Star'' (1996) both topping it. He is best known for having been the bassist of several bands, including La:Sadie's, Mirage, Syndrome, Kisaki Project, and Phantasmagoria.
