D'Eon (musician)
Chris d'Eon (born 1985), mononymously known as d'Eon, is a Canadian electronic musician, singer-songwriter, producer, and composer based in Montreal, Quebec. He is known for his musical eclectism, which encompasses various elements of electronica, pop, avant-garde music, and world music. Early life Chris d'Eon began making music at four years old after receiving synthesizers and a sequencer from his parents. He took professional music courses as a teenager before dropping out of his studies entirely. In 2008, d'Eon travelled to the Himalayas and was taught how to play the dramyin by a Tibetan musician. During this trip, he moved to the Dip Tse Chok Ling monastery and didn't speak for months. This trip greatly influenced his musical eclecticism, as upon returning to Canada, d'Eon began incorporating dramyin and other elements of Eastern music into his music. Claire Elise Boucher (; born March 17, 1988), known professionally as Grimes, is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Her lyrics often touch on science fiction and feminist themes. The visuals in her videos are elaborate and sometimes have fantasy themes. She has released five studio albums. Born and raised in Vancouver, Grimes began releasing music independently after moving to Montreal in 2006. Darkbloom (EP)
''Darkbloom'' is a split EP by Canadian musicians Grimes and d'Eon. It was released on April 18, 2011, as a joint release through Grimes' and d'Eon's respective labels, Arbutus Records and Hippos in Tanks. ''Darkbloom'' was conceived together by Grimes and d'Eon but recorded separately. Grimes directed the video for "Vanessa" herself after reportedly being unhappy with the video made for "Crystal Ball". It was Claire Boucher's directorial debut. She also directed and co-starred in the D'Eon video for "Transparency." Both videos were released on the same day in April 2011. Swans are an American experimental rock band formed in 1981 by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Michael Gira. One of the few acts to emerge from the New York City-based no wave scene and stay intact into the next decade, Swans have become recognized for an ever-changing sound, exploring genres such as noise rock, post-punk, industrial music, industrial and post-rock.
