Álava () or Araba (), officially Araba/Álava, is a Provinces of Spain, province of Spain and a historical territory of the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country, heir of the ancient Basque señoríos#Lords of Álava, Lordship of Álava, former medieval Catholic bishopric and now Latin titular see. Deputy General Of Álava
The deputy general of Álava (, ) is the head of the of Álava, a province of the Basque Country, Spain. The current incumbent is Ramiro González of the Basque Nationalist Party, who has held the office since 2015. The post has existed since the late fifteenth century. The first three Deputies General were selected by the monarch, but all their successors were elected by representatives of the province. The importance of the post increased gradually during the eighteenth century, while that of the '' Juntas Generales'' weakened. With the end of Basque home rule in Spain in 1876, the was denoted to the status of a provincial deputation, and the name of the post changed to president of the Deputation of Álava (, ). The Basque Country or Basque Autonomous Community (), also officially called Euskadi (), is an Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community in northern Spain. Ramiro González (politician)
Ramiro González Vicente (; born 20 April 1962) is a Spanish politician. A member of the Basque Nationalist Party, he has served as Deputy General of Álava since 2015. Biography He was born in Burgos, but moved to Vitoria-Gasteiz at the age of four. He studied law at the University of the Basque Country, and subsequently worked as a lawyer for 25 years. He is married and has two children. He has lived in Mendoza since around 2000. He became a member of the Basque Nationalist Party in 2002, and in 2007 he was elected to the ''Juntas Generales'' of Álava. During his first term, he served as deputy spokesman for the party under Deputy General Xabier Agirre. When Agirre left in 2011 after the election of Javier de Andrés, he became spokesman of the party in the ''Juntas Generales''. Agurain in Basque or Salvatierra in Spanish, officially Agurain/Salvatierra, is a town and municipality located in the province of Álava in the Basque Autonomous Community, northern Spain. Albéniz, Álava
Albéniz is a village in Álava, Basque Country, Spain. It is one of the typical villages of the Alava Plain (, ) nestled in the municipality of Asparrena. The village surrounds a svelte church with its tower and it is enclosed by the Umandia, Albéniz, Olano and Ballo mountains. It has a few districts such as San Juan and San Bartolomé as well as scatterings of population in Moñete, Orrao and La Estación. Basque Señoríos
The Basque ''jaurerriak'' or ''señoríos'' (literally, the Basque lordships) were a series of feudal territories that came into existence in the Basque Country in the Middle Ages. The lordships were hereditary land titles over territories of variable size under the name of a lord or count. The title and lands were often recognized by kings to Basque chieftains. It is loosely related to the concept of manorialism as the king had to swear allegiance to the Foral law in exchange for military assistance from the Basque chiefs, who were considered sovereign over their own lands and people. The Basque señoríos generally conformed vassal states of larger kingdoms; most of them started as domains of the Kingdom of Pamplona (later Navarre) but were conquered and attached to the Kingdom of Castile by the 13th century.
