Zhangjiajie
Zhangjiajie (; Tujia language, Tujia: /tsán tɕá kǎi/) is a prefecture-level city in the northwestern part of Hunan, Hunan Province, China. It comprises the district of Yongding District, Zhangjiajie, Yongding, Wulingyuan District, Wulingyuan and counties of Cili County, Cili and Sangzhi County, Sangzhi. It contains the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, part of the Wulingyuan, Wulingyuan Scenic Area which was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. History The city itself was previously named Dayong () and has a recorded history dating back to 221 BC. People lived here along both banks of the Lishui River (the mother river in Zhangjiajie), now within the boundaries of Zhangjiajie City, very early during the Stone Age. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park () is a national forest park located in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, China. It is one of several national parks within the Wulingyuan Scenic Area. History In 1982, the park was recognized as China's first national forest park with an area of . Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is part of a much larger Wulingyuan Scenic Area. In 1992, Wulingyuan was officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was then approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources as Zhangjiajie Sandstone Peak Forest National Geopark () in 2001. In 2004, Zhangjiajie geopark was listed as a UNESCO global geopark. Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
Zhangjiajie Glass footpath is a skywalk bridge in Zhangjiajie, Hunan, above the Wulingyuan area. The bridge, built as an attraction for tourists, is glass-bottomed and is transparent. When it opened it was the longest and tallest glass bottomed bridge in the world. The bridge, opened to the public on 20 August 2016, measures in total length and in width, and is suspended about above the ground. The bridge spans the canyon between two mountain cliffs in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in the northwest of Hunan province. It is designed to carry up to 800 visitors at a time. The bridge was designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan. To build the bridge, engineers erected four support pillars on the edges of the walls of the canyon. The bridge is made of a metal frame with more than 120 glass panels. Each of these panels is three-layered and is a slab of tempered glass. It is noted for more than 3,000 quartzite sandstone pillars and peaks across most of the site, many over in height, along with many ravines and gorges with picturesque streams, pools, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls. It features 40 caves, many with large calcite deposits and a natural bridge named Tianqiashengkong (meaning 'bridge across the sky'), which is one of the highest natural bridges in the world. Sangzhi County
Sangzhi () is a county in Hunan Province, China, it is under administration of the prefecture-level city of Zhangjiajie. Located on the northern margin of Hunan, Sangzhi County is bordered to the east by Cili County, to the south by Yongding and Wulingyuan Districts, to the west by Yongshun and Longshan Counties, and to the north by Xuan'en and Hefeng Counties of Hubei. Tianmen Mountain
Tianmen Mountain () is a mountain located within Tianmen Mountain National Park, Zhangjiajie, in the northwestern part of Hunan Province, China. Huanglong Cave
Huanglong Cave () is a karst cave located in Wulingyuan District, Zhangjiajie City, Hunan, People's Republic of China and a national 4A rated scenic area. As of 2010, the cave has over a million visitors per year. Since 1997, the Huanglong Cave scenic area has been managed by Beijing-based China Datong Co. Ltd. It was previously managed directly by the Hunan provincial government. In addition to the cave itself the Huanglong Cave scenic area includes Huanglong Cave Ecology Square (), completed in 2009 by restoring the landscape of the area adjacent to the cave entrance. Cili () is a county in Hunan Province, China under administration of the prefecture-level city of Zhangjiajie. Puguang Temple (Zhangjiajie)
Puguang Temple () or Puguang Chan Temple () is a Buddhist temple located in Yongding District of Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China. History According to ''Hunan Yongding Records'' (), the temple was first built by a military official Yong Jian () in 1413, under the Ming dynasty (1368–1644). In 1733, in the reign of Yongzheng Emperor in the Qing dynasty (1644–1911), a local official named Shi Cheng renovated and refurbished the temple.
