Zambezi Region
The Zambezi Region, known as the Caprivi Region until 2013, is one of Namibia's fourteen regions, situated in the north-eastern part of the country along the Zambezi River. The region's capital is Katima Mulilo. The Katima Mulilo Airport is 18 kilometres south-west of the town, while the village of Bukalo is located 43 kilometres south-east of Katima Mulilo. The region has eight electoral constituencies and a population of 142,373 according to the 2023 census. Regions Of Namibia
Namibia uses regions as its first-level subnational administrative divisions. Since 2013, it has 14 regions which in turn are subdivided into Constituencies of Namibia, 121 constituencies. Upon Independence of Namibia, Namibian independence, the pre-existing subdivisions from the South African administration were taken over. Since then, demarcations and numbers of regions and constituencies of Namibia are tabled by delimitation commissions and accepted or declined by the National Assembly of Namibia, National Assembly. In 1992, the ''1st Delimitation Commission'', chaired by Judge President Johan Strydom, proposed that Namibia should be divided into 13 regions. Kabbe North
Kabbe North is a constituency in Namibia's Zambezi Region. The administrative centre of the constituency is the settlement of Kabbe, situated 53 kilometres south-east of the region's capital, Katima Mulilo. It has a population of 12,253 and covers an area of 1,183 km², resulting in a population density of approximately 10.36/km². 2010 Namibian Local And Regional Elections
Namibia held elections for its local and regional councils on 26 and 27 November 2010. The terms of regional councillors and local authority representatives were originally set to expire in 2009. As a local and regional election in 2009 would have meant organising four different elections in one year, this part of the election was postponed and terms of office extended by one year. Regional election Regional elections contested 101 seats in 13 regional councils. The South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO ; , SWAVO; , SWAVO), officially known as the SWAPO Party of Namibia, is a political party and former independence movement in Namibia (formerly South West Africa). Founded in 1960, it has been the governing party in Namibia since the country achieved independence in 1990. The party continues to be dominated in number and influence by the Ovambo ethnic group. Namibian Local And Regional Elections, 2015
Namibia held elections for their local and regional councils on 27 November 2015. Ballots were cast using electronic voting. Electoral system Elections to regional councils are held using the first-past-the-post electoral system. Voters in each constituency elect one councillor to represent them on their regional council. Local authority councillors are elected by a system of proportional representation. Results Regional and local elections taken together elected 199 women out of the 499 available seats, partly because affirmative action for women is required by law in local authority elections. National Assembly Of Namibia
The National Assembly is the lower chamber of Namibia's bicameral Parliament. Its laws must be approved by the National Council, the upper house. Since 2014, it has a total of 104 members. 96 members are directly elected through a system of closed list proportional representation and serve five-year terms. Eight additional members are appointed by the President. Since March 2025, SWAPO member Saara Kuugongelwa has been the Speaker of the National Assembly. Sibbinda Constituency is a constituency in Namibia's Zambezi Region, with its administrative centre located in the settlement of Sibbinda. As of 2023, it has a population of 17,126 residents. Kongola Constituency
Kongola Constituency is a List of constituencies of Namibia, constituency in Namibia's Zambezi Region, with the Kongola settlement serving as its administrative centre. Covering an area of 5,174 km², it is the largest constituency in the region by area. The constituency lies near the Cuando River, Kwando River.
